Kentucky Wildcats: Morning Quickies - Indianapolis 500 Eve Edition

The need for speed. - Jamie Squire

News and commentary from around the Big Blue Internet. Kentucky gets another football commitment, has 16th ranked class in the country right now. Softball opens up against Arizona St. today to get to the Women's College World Series. More.

The 97th Indianapolis 500 happens on Sunday, and whether or not you're a fan of auto racing (and I'm not), that's big news. I was able to attend the time trials at Indy 15 or so years ago, and it was a very cool thing.

Tweet of the Morning:

Mark Stoops is determined to give himself, and Kentucky, a chance to compete in the SEC. It shows.

Your Quickies:

  • Drew Barker will be participating in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge (via Hank).

  • Mark Stoops thinks hiring Vince Morrow was a home run in retrospect, and I totally agree (via hank).

  • We all know, or should know, that Darius West and Mike Edwards want to play together. Both are considered Kentucky leans. However...

There's one problem with this article: He doesn't have an offer from Michigan State. Clearly, his coach is trying to get an offer from the Spartans and I believe he's trying to direct his player away from Kentucky. (Hank)

  • UK offers a 2015 player who has the perfect name for a linebacker.

  • Here's a good interview with T.V. Williams who may be leaning toward Kentucky. (Hank)

  • Can Kentucky compete with Alabama? Ky Cat Stats seems to think so. (Hank)

  • Larry Vaught interviews Mark Stoops, who was surprised by the amount of fan support. Also read the comments. (Hank)

Kentucky fans' support for football is one of the lesser-known facts about this program. Historically, fans have stuck with the football Wildcats through thick and thin, not counting last year's protests. (Glenn)

  • Straight from the horse's mouth. Nice visual as well as UK being among some nice company. (Hank)

    Pretty darn cool, that. (Glenn)

  • Here's what a Florida spring game looks like... Kentucky recruits on the field: Ryan Sousa - Lake Nona - Watch the video at the end of the article.

  • Kentucky gets another offensive line commitment from Ohio. Had some nice offers, like Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Pitt.

  • Mark Stoops understands the challenges at Kentucky.

  • In case you've forgotten, softball opens play against Arizona St. in super regional play today. The winner of the super regional advances to the Women's College World Series.

  • KSR has a postmortem on Kentucky's baseball season. This was an epic fail by the team, dropping 19 of their last 27 games to go from 5th to no postseason.

  • Five college coaches without long, consonant-dominated names who could lead USA basketball. The usual suspects, with the somewhat notable absence of Rick Pitino. Does Goodman think he's too old or something?

  • You know what the best part of this video is? My Kentucky does NOT include the Louisville Cardinals.
