A week ago when the WNBA invites came out for the draft one of the names suspiciously left off was A'Dia Mathies. Seems that the person in charge of putting young ladies in the green room needs a new job. A'Dia Mathies was drafted at the #10 spot by the Los Angeles Sparks.
A'Dia seems to have gotten across to everyone that she is much more than the sum of her parts, which is itself pretty remarkable. The Matthew Mitchell style of defense and offense combined into a constant 40 minute attack is well suited for the WNBA and it's faster tempo. L.A. recognized this and made he the first round selection for their club.
She will be joining Candace Parker from Tennessee at L.A., and will be UK's latest contribution to California professional basketball.
After all the hard work that A'Dia did, after all the changing she did to her game, maturing and learning when and when not to contribute, keeping her teammates involved in the game, and teaching as well as playing, it is nice to see her rewarded for her efforts.
Congratulations, A'Dia!! It is an honor that is well earned and much deserved.
