Happy Good Friday to everyone, especially to those off work or off school.
What a game between the Ohio St. Buckeyes and Arizona Wildcats last night. The last-second shot by LaQuinton Ross was perhaps the play of the tournament so far, and was almost a mirror image of Christian Watford's shot against UK last year. A little deeper, perhaps.
Tweet of the Morning:
By the way, as of yesterday at 6 p.m., Calipari had not had the "NBA talk" with Goodwin, Poythress or Cauley-Stein.

You know, it's like the "sex talk."

UK football: Dupree ready for work in the trenches // Kentucky.com
Though UK hasn’t released a depth chart, Dupree and junior college transfer Za’Darius Smith are the favorites to start at defensive end in the Cats’ new 4-3 scheme.
Interesting move by Eliot.

Drew Barker talks about getting 115 letters in 1 day from UK // Courier-Journal
Barker said UK, with its mail overload, had convinced him that he’s atop the Cats’ player wish list.
"If they hadn’t before, they definitely have now," he said.
Well, that’s done. At least he’s feeling the love from Stoops he wasn’t from Joker Phillips & Co. (Via Hank)

Kentucky Coach John Calipari visits St. Augustine's Craig Victor // NOLA.com
The coach stopped by St. Augustine on Wednesday to pay a visit to Purple Knights junior forward Craig Victor, a 6-foot-8 prospect ranked among the top 60 players in the country for the Class of 2014 by ESPN.
It’s funny. Kentucky doesn’t extend offers until they know the guy is worth one, but other schools, even bluebloods, rarely wait.

Mark May calls out Doug Gottlieb on Twitter // SBNation.com
If the Twitter reax was any indication, May came out on the very short end of this dispute. Gotleib’s comment was awkward, no doubt, and greeted with crickets from the rest of the analysts there, but I think this is the result of hypersensitivity to race that has suddenly become the vogue in recent years.

Fred Hoiberg, Iowa State agree to ten-year deal through 2023 // CollegeBasketballTalk
Okay, so for all you fooz out there that thought Hoiberg was going somewhere, I.E. leaving his alma mater for the money, put this in your pipe and smoke it. Silly wabbits.
Seriously, can you name even one coach who left his non-mid-major alma mater to coach elsewhere? It has probably happened, but it is a very rare circumstance.

Utah Jazz’s Enes Kanter out with dislocated shoulder // The Salt Lake Tribune
If Kanter is sidelined for more than a game or two, which seems likely, the Jazz will miss him. He averages 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in only 15.6 minutes this season.
Bummer. Get well soon, Enes. Via Aaron’s blog.
