With the exception of 6 turnovers, Kentucky played a solid first half of basketball at Texas A&M. The Wildcats shot 48% from the field and 50% from the arc thanks to made 3's by Kyle Wiltjer, Julius Mays and Ryan Harrow. Kentucky could have easily been up by double-digits, but the last couple of possessions they reverted to older form and gave the Aggies a chance to get back in the game.
What I like is the fact that Kentucky has kept Elston Turner under control, they are shooting the ball well from outside, and they are defending very well overall. What I don't like are all the turnovers, the fact that the Aggies are getting too many offensive boards, and the Wildcats look a little herky-jerky on offense. Nerlens Noel had a big half offensively, though, getting 10 points, 8 rebounds and one block.
This wasn't a bad half by any means, but it needs to get better. Let's hope Kentucky can come out and win the first five minutes of the second half, something they have done only a couple of times all year. Stay sound on defense, avoid cheap fouls and turnovers, and get a body on somebody when the shot goes up.
Basketball sounds like such a simple game, doesn't it?
