THIS WEEK IN KENTUCKY SOCCER: Women's SEC Tournament, Men Wrapping up Regular Season

White & Blue Review

Happy Monday, y'all! Has anyone ever accused you of having a case of "the Mondays?" I believe you'd get your ass kicked for saying something like that, man. Speaking of kicking ass: Kentucky soccer! You love it, I love it, your mother loves it, so let's get after it.

LAST WEEK:

Kentucky's women closed out the regular season with a 2-0 loss in South Carolina :(. The loss was somewhat costly for seeding in the SEC Tournament; a win would've made them a 3 seed but the loss makes them a 5.

The men, however, seem to have finally hit their stride scoring EIGHT GOALS on the week. For those keeping track, that's a 175% increase over their previous season tally of 14 going into the Marshall game last Wednesday. Kentucky beat the Herd 0-2 in West Virginia, ate a truckload of Halloween candy, and then summarily dispatched Florida Atlantic 6-1 last night. Senior Tyler Riggs increased his season goal tally from two to seven over the course of five days, scoring once against Marshall and completing a second half hat trick against FAU, which impressed the national media enough to name him National Offensive Player of the Week. Way to go Tyler! Also, to no one's surprised, Brad Doliner kicked ass and scored one of his own.

THIS WEEK:

The Lady Cats' opening SEC Tournament game is on Wednesday night against Ole Miss on the sandy, orange beaches of Orange Beach, Alabama. Ole Miss is the 4 seed and have a strong conference and SEC record this season; this will be their first meeting with Kentucky of the season, however. The winner gets to take on 1 seed Florida, who will presumably beat whoever wins the play-in game. Some consolation prize!

Meanwhile, the men finish up their season with a make-up game against Wright State in Lexington tomorrow night, then hitting the road to wrap up the slate against conference leaders New Mexico over the weekend. Yes, Kentucky and New Mexico are in the same conference. No, Walter White is not coaching the Lobos.

GO CATS!
