Kentucky Wildcat Lynx: The News In Blue 10/28/2013

Hey, guess what happens this week? - Mark Zerof-US PRESSWIRE

Kentucky Wildcat Lynx: Where we "do, or do not. There is no "try".

Well Big Blue Nation, we survived another weekend. Another Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday in the books. Did you savor your last weekend of the drought? Did you enjoy your last few brief moments of peace and solitude before chaos once again reigns supreme here in the world of collegiate basketball superiority? You better have. Because the real madness starts this week. Hang on.

Once again, Kentucky has a punter who is up for a national award. Glad to see that this year, we have a few gridiron kids who are getting some attention somewhere else. Landon Foster, however, is this week's news. John Clay has the football stats for the Cats nationally here. Is it just me, or has John become a bit morose this season? He keeps it up and I am gonna move him to the back of the line when I start looking for links. The NCAA got another kick in the teeth last Friday as a federal judge said no to an ESPN motion to dismiss the O'Bannon case. One legal analyst has this to say:

If the class action is granted, the NCAA's chances of maintaining the status quo are dismal. Now that the plaintiffs are able to challenge NCAA on the merits of its case, there is [a] very strong chance that O'Bannon will prevail.

" -- Marc Edelman,
law professor, Baruch College

I hope he wins. And I hope the NCAA goes down in flames when he does. It won't, mind you. But there is always hope.

Here is some of the best the NFL had to offer over the weekend. Andy Dalton and the Bengals sure look real. Marvin Jones was a joy to watch on Sunday. Can't remember the last time Cincy whipped anyone like that. Ever caught a million dollar fish? This woman did. Dang, money, can fish, has a boat. Gentlemen, proposals? If the fish lady doesn't suit you, surely you can get behind saying hello to one of these folks, right? I mean come on, who doesn't enjoy a little skinny-skiing?

James Blackmon, Jr., come on down already. Let's get this over with so you can relax and enjoy the rest of your High School year and we can concentrate on winning #9 before you get here. Glenn talked about this over the weekend. All I will say is, John Calipari is a whole lot smarter than to criticize the Big Blue Nation. Especially when it is a no-win scenario. Sorry Nick, you messed up this time. Here is everything you could possibly want to know about the Fall Classic. It's 2 games each and looks like it will go down to the wire. Is Alabama-LSU the real SEC Championship game? Don't ask Auburn to believe that. So, I mentioned Kliff Kingsbury last week in a link about he and Texas Tech riding high. Who knew that it would lead to this?

Bill Sharman was a legendary player and coach who was one of the first people to feel the heat from the Celtics-Lakers rivalry, and to experience it from both sides. He will be missed. Never was there a shooter who was more pure than Sharman. What does the bowl picture look like now? See for yourself. If you are going to be a diva, do it right. Not sure what that is? Watch Dez Bryant. He has the routine down cold.

Now for The Links That Wild Weasel Would Never Bring You: Was Lou Reed truly an icon? I must confess I never understood the fascination with Reed. What does it mean when a movie called "Bad Grandpa" is the top of the list? I thought "Bad Santa" destroyed enough of my childhood memories. Julianne Hough just couldn't keep from taking Halloween too far. Only in Hollywood.

And finally to our Tweet of The Day (since this is probably the only link you cared about this morning anyway):

That's all for now. Stay tuned as WW will bring you the rest of the day's links in the comments section, I have no doubt!! :-)
