Kentucky Football: Marcus McWilson, Rivals 4-Star, Picks UK Over Nebraska

Stay connected for news and updates

It's finally official. As we reported yesterday, Marcus McWilson, a 4-star safety, decommitted from the Nebraska Cornhuskers after visiting Kentucky and was widely reported to be a strong UK lean. That lean is now officially a commitment, per Ben Roberts at NextCats (among others):

McWilson is considered the No. 18 safety in the class of 2013, according to Rivals and Scout. He is the No. 196 overall player in the Rivals rankings and the No. 10 recruit from Ohio — making him the first Rivals 250 player to commit to Kentucky under Stoops.

This is obviously great news for UK as it continues to make major waves in 2013 recruiting. The McWilson pledge is a big one for the staff and for Kentucky's defensive secondary, which was in major need of a talent upgrade. Given the returning personnel, the secondary should be much improved next year, not only with better starters but also with significantly better depth.
