That was one ugly half of basketball. Both teams laid enough bricks to build the Empire State Building. The teams were a combined 1-21 shooting from three. Abysmal is not even a sufficient description.
With that said, the Wildcats somehow weathered my greatest fear -- the early loss of Nerlens Noel, and on a silly reach-in to boot. The only good thing I can say is that Kentucky is leading this game.
Ryan Harrow had the single most loathsome first half I can ever remember, shooting an air ball and turning the ball over 3 times. I don't know what he thinks he's doing, but Jarrod Polson played better.
And then there was Kyle Wiltjer. If this first half is any indicator, he may well have seen the light and found his game. He isn't exactly shooting lights-out at 3-9, but he has been the only Kentucky player that has been a threat, and he has 3 assists to go with it, along with a couple of rebounds.
Things could be worse, and Noel will be back. UK has given up far too many open looks from three, though, and really, the game could as easily be a five point deficit as a five point lead. We need better in the second half.
