The Kentucky Wildcats are up 34-31 on the Tennessee Volunteers after one half of butt-ugly basketball. Kentucky made so many stupid mistakes on offense that they have no right to be up in this game. Kentucky has outrebounded Tennessee offensively, so I suppose there is some good news. But the bad news is 39% shooting, while allowing Tennessee to shoot 57%.
Fortunately, Tennessee made just as many mistakes as Kentucky and turned the ball over more, and so the Wildcats wind up with a 3-point lead. But Calipari should be peeling the paint of the brand-new Rupp Arena locker rooms for the utterly feckless defense Kentucky played in the first half. I don't have enough adjectives to describe how totally careless the Wildcats were defensively, and the offense looked like a Yugo with one cylinder not firing.
God, I hope the second half is better.
Go, 'Cats!
