It seems possible that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has changed his mind. After initial reports that MKG would attend, but not play in the UK Alumni game, it seems that he's had a change of heart:
MKG tweets that he is playing in the alumni game. Maybe he was pranking the group of reporters he told today that he wasn't.

So I guess the initial reports that he wasn't playing on orders of Charlotte Bobcats management are not quite correct. No doubt that attendees to the game will enjoy being treated to his relentlessness.
