Larry Vaught has a story up on his blog quoting an unnamed college coach who has "...gone against Calipari for players..." says that Kentucky is the favorite to land 2013 phenom Jabari Parker, listed by ESPN as the nations #1 player in the class of 2013:>
A college coach who has been involved with Parker’s recruiting — and gone against Calipari for players — already has an inkling about what school Parker will eventually pick. He thinks the pick will be Kentucky because the Cats are already the frontrunner. And he didn’t hesitate when predicting that Parker would pick Kentucky even though he could still also opt for a two-year mission trip before going to college.
This comes as no surprise, although I have heard tell that Parker may prefer the Duke Blue Devils. Of course, that's the thing about recruiting -- you can never really tell who is the favorite and who isn't, and this unnamed coach's comments should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.
I don't think anyone in the Big Blue Nation is overly concerned about recruiting for 2013 -- Coach Cal is going to get his. These days, I admit to have taken an almost religious view of Kentucky recruiting in the level of faith I have for Calipari's ability to persuade top players to matriculate to UK.
So will Parker pick UK? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But one thing is for sure -- 2013 stands a chance at being the most ridiculously talented class that Kentucky has had so far. Hat Tip: Kentucky Sports Radio.
