The UK Hoops squad added to its amazing depth for the 2012-13 season, announcing the signing of junior-college transfer Jelleah Sidney. Sidney was a high school teammate of Jennifer O'Neill and Bra'Shey Ali, and is a 6-foot-2 power forward from Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla. Sidney led her team in scoring at 11.8 points per game and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining, and can play immediately. Sidney signed with Syracuse out of high school.
The Kentucky Hoops squad was already loaded with talent ranging from McDonald's All-Americans, to SEC Player of the Year candidate A'Dia Mathies. Next season's UK women's team is going to be literally loaded, almost to the level of last season's UK men's squad.
A banner year is to be expected from the UK women's team in 2012, as they have added talented transfers, recruited at a very high level, and Matthew Mitchell has started to come into his own as the coach of this team. Last year's SEC Championship is going to be considered standard fare for Mitchell and his charges if the current recruiting trend continues.
I will begin to take a look at the entire squad as the summer progresses in order to give everyone a complete breakdown on expectations and insights for UK Hoops.
