A Bad Day in Broomfield

There were two Colorado girl state championship streaks ended yesterday, March 3rd. Oddly both schools are located in Broomfield. At the Colorado School of Mines

Broomfield HIgh School, winner of five straight Class 4A Championships lost to the Air Academy. Broomfield was not the overwhelming favorite in 4A this year, but were one of several favorites. Unfortunately their chances ended during a Friday non contact practice when star PG Britteny Zec shredded a knee

Holy Family's streak of four straight 3A state championships (and my favorite to win a fifth) also ended yesterday and is inexplicable. The winner of the Metro League tournament does not lose to a second place team from the western division of the Tri Peaks league. Except it did happen with Holy Family losing at home by three to 17th seeded Florence High School. When I get some details, I will pass them on.
