The Longest Day

As soon as it became evident an epic battle between UK and UL was going to happen this evening the anticipation became fever pitch. Articles covering our last meeting, the players, the coaches, the fans, the rivalry, predictions of the game, predictions away from the game and every single scrap of anything remotely connected to the game has been discussed, analyzed, argued and rehashed to the point of tedium. There is nothing to write (other than ASOB pregames and ASOB on-site reports) to really pique our interest. The national writers have written their pieces and have no insight that will raise our brow (ooooh.....The Brow!); they know less than even a casual UK fan.

With nothing new to learn before the game we are now living the longest day of the year. I hoped to go to sleep around Wednesday and wake up in time for the game but woke up with a nightmare that the game had been moved up due to popular interest. While many lost focus at work due to the constant voice of "The Dream Game II" dancing in their head, I hunkered down and had one of my most productive weeks at work in a long time.

Now it's game day, or rather, THE DAY OF THE GAME. We wait.......and wait........and wait. The game can't get here soon enough so I'm going to have to stay busy to make the time go faster. It's eerily similar to waiting for Christmas so I'm going to keep my mind off the game as best I can by having a productive Saturday. No TV until an hour before the game, no surfing the internet looking for that last grain of enlightenment that will ease my anxiety about the game. I'll just stay busy rearranging my sock drawer, clipping my toenails, cleaning the gutters and all those tedious little things that never seem to get done. Of course, I'll also be checking in on ASOB between tasks to see if someone has more ideas for me. Please help. Is is game time yet?
