#7 UK Hoops Vs. UT Lady Volunteers: Live Game Thread

DreadHeads, we have got to get this one. Going down to Thompson-Boling and winning the first game there ever by a UK Women's team will set a standard. It is going to be loud, it is going to be fast-paced, and it is going to be a really serious challenge for this Kentucky team.

It is Kentucky who now has the spotlight in this series as the Cats go into Knoxville with only last week's loss to LSU down in the Bayou against their record in SEC play. This game can give UK a serious cushion and virtually seal an SEC Regular Season Championship for us. And it would mark the beginning of a new era for UK as they have never swept the Lady Vols before. It is going to take focus, determination, and a lot of heart to walk out of Knoxville with a win, but this team is not only capable of it, they are ready. It is time to put the men and children to bed and go looking for dinner ladies.

***2ND half note: Although this one is going to take a miracle to pull out, the game has been extremely fast paced, and the ladies are playing hard.....C'Mon Hoops!!!!

reminds of a play from 3-4 years ago

I think it was UCLA vs Washington, the UCLA player (I think) was inbounding the ball and couldn’t get it in, so instead of calling a time out he tried to knock it off the player guarding the inbounds. He did that by throwing it at his head.

It was a rough play, but no technical was called.

Clemson just went through a rough stretch of losing 3 games by 8 points with chances to tie/win each in the last few seconds, so the coach had the team play dodgeball at practice to help them clear their heads. Their next game they went on the road and walloped Wake Forest by 20.

I can see a couple things

1) It’s just a fluky bad performance – rare for a team this good, but not unheard of.

2) He’s told them what they should do but they aren’t doing it for whatever reason, so it’s a “fine, I’ll let you find out what happens when you don’t follow the plan” type of thing.

Out-shot, Out-rebounded, Out-passed But

Mostly out-coached. The Lady Cats while being fun to watch and much improved over the recent past are basically a one-trick pony, er, perhaps one-trick filly would be more appropriate — they rely primarily on hard play, disruptive defense and forced turnovers but when a smart coach takes those away and resorts to basketball plays the results are as we have seen in last two games. Back to the drawing board for X’s and O’s, and basketball skills.
