The Dirty Birds Are On the Move - Louisville to enter ACC

According to CNN/SI this morning our rivals are heading into the ACC to replace Maryland.

This brings up a few fascinating questions and possibilities in my mind.

First, Thanksgiving weekend usually sees all the SEC/ACC games played as a block. Florida/Florida State, Georgia/Georgia Tech, South Carolina/Clemson and Vandy / Wake Forest. If the Cards become an ACC school will Birmingham want to move the Governer's Cup into rival's weekend along with the other matchups? This would probably mean playing Tennessee earlier in the year.

The annual New Year's Eve bird thrashing becomes more relevant as well from an interconference standpoint.

The final thought is this - With the loss of Louisville, UConn will likely bolt as well. The Big East is pretty much done at this point as a relevant conference - mattering little more than Conference USA or the MAC.

In any event, here we go again on the conference carousel.
