Tweet of the Morning:
Every year Kentucky basketball has won a national championship, the Yankees have won the world series the same year. Every time. Just saying— ddogfilm (@ddogfilm) October 8, 2012
Is this right? Amazing coincidence if true. UK and the Yankees are often compared.
Now, for your Quickies:
How about some highlights from the NBA, including the #1 overall draft pick Anthony Davis, and a little Darius Miller to boot?
UF is really in the hunt for Jabari Parker. I don't think they will beat Kentucky for the other two guys.
Question: Does it surprise you that Calipari already seems well positioned to possibly have another top recruiting class? What do you think is his best selling point with recruits right now?
DeCourcy: "Why would it surprise me when this is like the fifth year in a row? It surprised me in the summer of 2011 when I talked to John at the Peach Jam and there were actually people worried about whether UK would recruit well for the 2012 class. And he wound up with Poythress, Goodwin and, after Noel reclassified, the best center prospect. It doesn't surprise me when individual recruits Kentucky is pursuing go elsewhere; as John says, it's not for everybody. But if we got to the end of the spring and UK couldn't find three to five players who want to follow the course of the program's recent freshmen — that would shock me."
Mike DeCourcy is one of my favorites. Recommended.
Possibly, but I'm not sold on this idea at all. Towles looked good out there, and I want to see more, but I'm not sure he is the kind of player that would make Kentucky more attractive to a new head coach. Perhaps, but I'm not convinced.
The game wasn’t devoid of positives. Jalen Whitlow continued to showcase the athleticism that makes him dangerous in the open field. He added another rushing touchdown, but finished 10/21 passing for 73 yards, only two more yards than Towles and on almost three times as many attempts.
I really liked what Whitlow did, for the most part. He just needs more development, and his arm really impressed me. Towles and Smith are going to have genuine competition from this guy for quarterback, and that's no matter who coaches next year.
Calipari's right. Davis and Noel are not even similar players except in body type. Noel is an even better athlete than Davis, but not nearly as skilled at the game of basketball.
Volleyball's 4-game winning streak goes down the tubes in Floirda.
Women's soccer drops a game on the road to Ole Miss, on 8-5-1, 3-4-1.
As bad as UK is this year, is it possible that Auburn is worse?
