Although Maryland coach Mark Turgeon made John Calipari's job tougher than it should have been, Corey Albertson, Cats Illustrated.com recruiting guru, is reporting tonight that Andrew and Aaron Harrison will select Kentucky as their college destination tomorrow night on ESPNU at 5:30 ET. Albertson has been covering the Harrison recruitment for Cats Illustrated.com and interviewed the twins only a few weeks ago.
Turgeon visited the Harrison's on Wednesday afternoon to make one final pitch, while Calipari has been in contact with the two star players over the last week.
Both players are ranked as top five prospects by most recruiting analysts and web sites.
In addition, James Young, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound shooting guard from Michigan with unlimited range, and who is ranked as one of the nation's top ten high school talents, is reportedly set to announce his decision soon after the Harrison's unveil their choice. Young, who made an unofficial visit last weekend to Kentucky, is choosing between Michigan State, Syracuse, and the 'Cats.
Whichever players choose the 'Cats, they will join 6-foot-9 forward Derek Willis (Bullitt East HS) as 2013 UK commits.
For Kentucky basketball, Thursday could be semi-historic if Cal nabs the twins, considered to be the best "package" deal, possibly in history, and if Young was to follow suit -- which is probably not likely, but if he were to follow the Harrison's to Kentucky -- it would mark the most impressive single-day recruiting haul in the rich annals of Wildcat basketball.
We'll have more as the situations dictate.
