In this article, which appears in the Herald-Sun, former Duke player Lance Thomas, who purchased over $97,000 of jeweler during his senior year at Duke in 2009, tells the newspaper, "No. I don't think so," when asked if he broke NCAA rules with his seemingly extravagant purchase.

Thomas was recently sued by Rafaello and Company for non-payment of a nearly $68,000 balance on the purchase, but the two sides reached an agreement before the case could go to court. Conveniently, the agreement reportedly includes a clause which precludes Thomas from discussing the matter publicly.
