PG#1
Cause those numbers look real familiar and are in-play this year. I wish #1 had #2’s FT% though. That might be needed come tourney time.
I think I will choose #2
Unless this someone with no one else on the team to contribute. I like #2’s FT% and less turnovers (though that could be because of minutes). But seems as if #2 makes almost as many points in less minutes. Tough call.
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
PG1
He’s a more efficient scorer. PG2 offers no semblance of a threat from 3. PG2 looks like a shot jacker (to get to 9 points per game in 23 minutes a game on 39% shooting necessitates a lot of shots). Hypothesizing that I know whom both of them are, there are certainly extenuating circumstances for why both their stat lines look that way, but on pure statistics I think PG1 has the advantage.
It's not a legitimate question......Sorry DC
The factors that determine which one is best are not on the screen.
You have stats. What I want to know is who we are pairing the guard with. You put a point guard on the floor with 4 shooters, who cares if he can shoot? You put one on the floor with a really big front line, I want to see more assists. If I have another one on the bench who is pretty good, I don’t need him to play 32 min. If I don’t I want durability and FT%……too many variables and unknowns.

Oh Greg...
I thought I was being obvious with this post, but I guess not. Say you get to pick between the two PGs above to start for next year’s squad. Assume we get Shabazz and Bennett. We have Wiljter, Poythress, Goodwin, and Cauley.
I’ll answer my own question since no one has answered the second part of my question. I go PG #1 at 55/45. If PG #2 could somehow shoot a little better from the field, I’d swing that way.
I take one for durability......
you need your starting PG to be able to be on the floor for at least 30 min a game.
The FT% does bother me though……Truthfully, other than min played, they are both pretty close. Trading one skill for another.

Darius Miller
Do we say he lacks durability since he only plays 25 minutes a game?
You’re tough to discuss these things with, Greg. First you said we didn’t have enough information to make the call but now you apparently know all you need to know by minutes/game to determine if a player is durable.
Remember, we’re talking freshman year stats. Next year they won’t be freshmen and we don’t know how many minutes they’ll play or need to play.
Well, I assumed you wanted me to make a guess after you gave me the other information.....lol
Darius is not a starting PG. By being a SG on a team which has Doron Lamb, he limits his minutes. That’s what I mean by having more info. Not trying to be difficult, it is just one of those things I take into consideration when discussing this stuff.
If I am John Calipari, and I am choosing between these two sets of stats, I have to ask myself which guy fits my other players’ skillsets. You always want to see a gret asst to TO ratio, both of these guys are virtually the same. You also want to see a high FT% if the guy is a penetrate and dish PG. But if he is an over the top, fast break, high energy passer, you might be able to live with the low FT% because he wont shoot as many.
Your point about them being freshmen is well taken, and it does muddy the waters a little bit. But I can’t say either one sets my fields on fire, so to speak.

"But I can’t say either one sets my fields on fire, so to speak."
That’s my point. I made a joke on another thread about Teague coming back so he can be a capable back up to Harrow next year. I lean ever so slightly towards Teague, but I don’t want the job handed to him. I’d love to see the competition between the two.
I would not believe that ANYONE
would have a spot handed to them in Calipari’s rotation. Too many great players on the roster.

Interesting...
Posted over at KSR… a comment by Cal: “When asked about Harrow’s progression, he called the NC State transfer a mix between Brandon Knight and Marquis Teague, saying his shot is better than Teague’s but he’s not quite as physical.”
Teague And Harrow
If so I’ll take the one with a year’s competitive experience in the system over the one with only practice experience, not to mention 6-2 vs 5-10.

But is he using the 6'2"?
I wish I could see how they go at each other in practice.
Teague's been using that 6'2" to full effect on the defensive end
no way is Harrow as effective a defender as Teague has been, and that aspect of Teague’s game is not getting proper credit, IMHO.

Sweet!
You must have access to all of UK practice’s to know Teague is a better defender than Harrow. Can you tell me about the practice sessions? What are they like?
They rock!
Teague ranks as a top-30 defender (among guards) this year by DWS. Ryan Harrow ranked about 620 last year.
Basically, just from watching Teague, I don’t know how anyone could reasonably expect a much smaller player, and also with a less highly-regarded pedigree, to match what Teague has done defensively.

Practice! Practice! Are we talking about practice?

This whole post is a thinly disguised front for taking shots at Marquis Teague.
I do hope you won’t be a hypocrite and stand up and cheer when he leads us to #8.

Thinly disguised?
I thought it was pretty thick actually.
I don’t hate Teague at all. I don’t love him either. I think he is an average elite PG, if that makes sense. I think he makes a ton of boneheaded mistakes and I will never forgive him for the nut slap. I also won’t sing his praises just because he has 4 assists and 2 TOs in a game. Woo-frickin-hoo…
That said, I am a fan of the team and even though I’m not impressed with Teague, I will cheer for them winning #8 all I want, thank you very much. And I assure you, he will NOT “lead” us to #8. My hope is he doesn’t keep us from winning #8.
The point guard is the floor leader. He focuses the team on the offensive set.
Without such a leader, the team cannot function steadily and smoothly. Last year there was a poster on this board who sounded a similar alarm about Liggins. He disappeared as Liggins repeatedly proved his worth. I can assure you, with just as much certainty that Teague will be leading us if we win #8.
