Mike Cassity hired as new defensive back's coach at UK
Cassity has both played and coached at UK, and he has strong ties with several current members of the Wildcat football coaching staff. Cassity is known as a very strong recruiter, who also did an outstanding job as D coordinator for Louisville under Bobby Petrino.

Well,
With no info from you guys here :-), I set out to find out if this is a great hire. With all the negativity surrounding the UK FB program, reading threads takes a bit of self-discernment. I tossed past rumors, too old, another UL reject, etc, etc.
It seems he turned around the Illinois defense in one season. And has made significant good things a lot of other places. Though personally, I did wonder why he has bounced around quite a bit. That said, I put no weight on it because I am not sure it is not the norm. ( Maybe I should put coaches average tenure next on my to-learn-list.) ;-)
I think this will be a good hire. I can’t give it great without first seeing. I did read he has already started trying to bring in big * recruits. No time to waste. Get ’er done!
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
I hope this is a good hire....
Coaches obviously make a huge difference but you have to have good players. Just hope they can get enough good players and then see what this coach can do with them.
Slower Traffic Keep Right!
DBs
The secondary was pretty disappointing last year (no counting Winston). UK’s got a lot of young DBs, so hopefully he coaches them up.
No, you're right ... the secondary was not good last season
and you don’t include Guy, he was a LB 99.9% of the time.
It's been awhile since I've soap-boxed about this...
But if this guy will get the DB’s to look over their shoulder for the ball then I would consider that a HUGE improvement! :-)
If your wings don't sweep....
LOL, Eagle, that drives my dad absolutely nuts
I don’t know how many conversations we’ve had over the years about the secondary trying to read the eyes of the receiver instead of turning his head as the ball approaches.
Lots of teams “defend” like that, but for the life of me I don’t understand how the DB having his back to the ball helps in any way. So, yeah, I’m with you!!
Your Pops is a smart guy, especially we're agreeing on this topic! ;-)
You can’t, and it’s worth repeating, CAN NOT make a play on the ball if you don’t know where the darn thing is! Good grief, swivel your head and look for it… I would much rather take the occasional interference call that results from running into the receiver than to have a 100 balls caught without the DB even knowing the pass was coming his way!

If your wings don't sweep....
Well if this coach still has a home in Huntington it will be a short drive back home to visit - can't think of much else to say
A man is nothing more than a summation of his scars!
