Congratulations, you are the new GM of a new NBA franchise...
and here is your situation: you have been granted an expansion franchise in the NBA, but the rules are a little different this time around. Instead of the usual draft from the spear carriers of the established teams and a couple of draft picks you get to draft as many players as you want, but from one NCAA team (for our purposes the players decision to enter the draft or not is moot, if they are on the team their rights are yours, whenever they come out.)
You get to balance this one selection with what ever you can pick up among free agents and by trade, so you can keep or trade anyone on the one team you select. [e.g. you pick UK and you get Wiltjer, even if he plays three years before going pro. But you only get the players from the team for the one season, we are assuming the NBA is going a little crazy, not right round the bend.]
Now as Kentucky fans I am sure we can all make a strong argument for making that selection this years Cats, the number of future NBA players, and even stars, is obvious. What other teams might be in the same category (or close to it LOL), and why. UNC, Syracuse, OSU, who do you think would enable you to best build your franchise and why?

As of this moment saying I held the 4th pick I would select Florida State squad because of their defensive abilities
A man is nothing more than a summation of his scars!
UConn, without a doubt.
They have 8 guys who will play professionally somewhere: DeAndre Daniels [remember him?], Jeremy Lamb, Tyler Olander, Ryan Boatright, Archie Drummond [remember him, too?], Shabazz Napier, Roscoe Smith and Alex Oriakhi.
Among those 8, 3 are projected to be first rounders in the upcoming NBA Draft: Drummond, Oriakhi and Lamb. In fact, Drummond and Lamb are projected top 5 in most mocks.
3 other names are being thrown around in Mock Drafts from 2013 and beyond: Daniels, Boatright and Napier.
Andre Drummond, not Archie Drummond.
Apparently I can’t get Archie Goodwin out of my head.

Sound choice
..even if I am not too fond of the coach, but we aren’t including the coach.. I would not like the thought of that loss. :-)

I'm not fond of the coach or the program.
But you’re right – if I’m a GM, I have to be objective as possible looking at the players, their talent, and their numbers. And scanning the top 40 or so programs this season, UConn has the highest number of guys that should be pros.

Drummond is really going to have to improve to impress me - The Vol's owned him and Oriakhi
I’ve watched him play a few times – he needs much work.

He lost a lot of stock points after that poor showing......
but players go through that sometimes….a la Terrence Jones

I agree. But as a NBA GM,
I am drafting on potential, of course!
Drummond is projected to go #1 this summer by nbadraft.net.

and no one has ever drafted a "winning team"
in expansion. i wouldn’t fault the Wizards for drafting JW, but by himself he isn’t going to turn that franchise around. He is one part of the puzzle, and a very key part, one which will make them interesting to watch while they try to get the rest of the parts together and working.
You figure most NBA players don’t hit their stride until they are in their mid-20s, so very few college players are going to step right in and be a “force”. When was the last “Player of the Year” a rookie? It’s why they have special separate awards for rookies. Hell, at 19 and 29 they may be still growing, definitely filling out, if not getting taller. (Any one measured AD recently? :-) )
Surprised no one has mentioned UNC so far.

UNC would be up there, for sure. I love Henson.
But UConn would be my #1 answer to your question.

How about Baylor?
Two top 10 draft picks (Perry Jones and Quincy Miller), a possible NBA glue guy in Quincy Acy, and I think Deuce Bello has some NBA potential as well. Not very deep, but the two studs are certainly worth considering.
