UK HOOPS UK Vs. Florida Gators Preview and Open Game Thread

UK Hoops Returns to Memorial To Face Florida The Wildcats are riding a 15-game winning streak at home

Coverage

Additional Information Live video via ESPN3

OK ladies and gentlemen of the ASOB Nation, this is going to be something different that I hope you folks not only like, but that catches on and remains a part of ASOB from now on. For every televised game, or Internet broadcast game,we are now going to be bringing you a Women's Game thread and preview, and we will also have a postmortem just as we do now for the guys.

Our friends over at Rocky Top Talk have had this for as long as I can remember, and since the UK Hoops squad was able to eclipse the Lady Vols this year, I thought that it would be a nice thing to have, and Glenn was nice enough to let me try it out. So, join in on the fun, and maybe we can start a new tradition around here.

Matthew Mitchell knows what he is facing this afternoon, and was really clear with everyone about it; "We have a tough, tough matchup here Sunday afternoon with Florida," Coach Mitchell said. "The first one was probably the most physical game we’ve had yet in the conference. It was just a really tough, tough, physical test for us. It was great that we were able to win that game in Gainesville, (Fla.,) by a very slim margin. (It’s a) tough team we’re playing, they have some really good players, and (they are) well coached so we’ll have to do everything we can to get ready for our second meeting with Florida and we need to see if we can get another win."

The UK Hoops squad comes into this game as the #6 team in the country with a (17-2, 6-0 SEC) record and the Lady Gators (13-6, 3-3 SEC), are looking to spoil Coach Mitchell's afternoon.Sophomore transfer from UCONN Samarie Walker had her best game as a Wildcat against Georgia as she just missed a double-double against the Lady Bulldogs going for 18 pts and 9 reb.

The Hoops squad is 2 wins away from the best start in school history as the 1982-1983 team holds the record at 19-2.

Adia Mathies, the Hoops squad's Naismith Award Watch Member, is having a whirlwind of a season as she averages 16.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game.

Join me for the live game thread right here and let's see the girls try to go 7-0 in the SEC.

My take on the game so far,

I feel like UF gave them their best shot and UK hasn’t really got it going yet. I look for UK to wear them down big time in the 2nd half.

They are doing this with Henderson on the bench too.

If you want to see a budding star……watch Azia Bishop………I believe she will be a player of the year before she leaves UK…….

Proud to see Davis at the game.

Nice

I did see male players at games back in the 90’s, when I lived in Lexington. Though I don’t recall any being as high profile as the ones attending these days.

They have a section roped off for them with security up on the Catwalk over the

players entrance. It allows them a great view with some privacy, but some of the guys just sit in the stands and interact with the fans.

A'dia Mathies does not have to score big time every game

what A’dia Mathies does have to do is make big time scores every game.

And she delivers much more often than not.

Any UK Basketball fan would enjoy this style of play. It is entertaining and impressive.
