Saturday In The Park, Or The SEC, Whichever You Choose

I will be out of pocket most of the day tomorrow as commitments are taking me elsewhere, but I wanted to get my picks in early so here is something for everyone to pick apart as the day goes on. If the world continues to turn in it's current direction this Saturday should be a walk in the park for the Cats. Of course, as we all know, nothing is ever as easy as it seems now is it?

So, we all know that Anthony Grant and his band of merry young men are coming to Lexington to try and right the horrible wrong which was done to them by the Commodores this week.My love for the Wildcats aside, I just do not see the Bama Boys putting a hurt on the Wildcats in the friendly confines of Rupp Arena. Cats by 12 84-72.

South Carolina travels to Auburn to face Tony Barbee and his rejuvenated Tigers who have been doing the Jeckyll/ Hyde thing this year, being really intense one minute and looking lost the next. I say they pull off one and take out S.C. Auburn by 5, 75-70.

Michigan comes into Arkansas tomorrow in what will be a test for the Wolverines, because Mike Anderson has the Razorbacks playing like men possessed at home, despite the shellacking they took from the Cats in Rupp. Mike will have to rethink his plans after the Wolverines get done shredding them up. Michigan 68- Arkansas-55.

Tennessee also hosts an out of conference foe as UCONN goes into Knoxville looking to continue their winning ways. Tennessee can be tough at home, even in their currently underdeveloped state, but not even their new version of the Baby Huey, Jarnell Stokes gets them the win from the Huskies. UCONN 85- UT 71.

Mississippi rolls into Georgia fresh off of their upset win over MSU just a couple of days ago, but their fun will end quickly. Georgia should take care of business at home. Georgia 73- Ole Miss 62.

LSU heads into the Swamp to face the Gators and will not be happy when their Saturday is over. They will not be able to push this one to overtime as the Gators decide to get ugly with the Bayou Bengals. Gators 88- LSU 66.

And finally MSU heads north to Nashville to take on the Commodores. No one wants to face the Commodores right now, especially in that nightmare from Hades they call a gym. MSU is going to get handed their second loss in a row. Vandy 79- MSU 64.

Not going to have a lot of close games today, eh?

I really hope Tennessee doesn’t get beaten today by more than their previous three home losses combined. That’d be kinda depressing

If I cared more about my UNC side, I'd call myself "Tar Volon," and that'd be awesome.

Greg, you beat me to it.

Don’t quit the day job. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day of basketball, even if Louisville did win.

But on the upside Duke lost ... (YAY!!) .... and Syracuse went down .... Cats #1

Some may say we don’t want the #1 target on our back, but I think you still have a target on your back even if you are #2, #3, #4 or whatever ….

The most impressive win I seen today was Florida State over Duke - a hell of a game

Florida State may be coming into their own – what a gritty team.

But saying that Missouri, with four guards and an power forward, played very well also over a timid Baylor team with super star players.

Vandy played for a half like a top 20 team then for some unknown reason fell apart again. Just how good would Miss. State be if Sidney could play an effective 30 minutes a game..?

Tennessee is the new kid on the block now with Stokes playing like a vet in only three games. What a weapon they fell into. If the Vol’s had any kind of a point guard they would have the potential to be a top 10-15 team easily.

I expected to see Cuse go down playing at ND and without their academically ineligible star Fab Melo.

The Cats won again against a very physical team and would have won fairly easy if MKG hadn’t gotten into foul trouble playing only 23 minutes.

The best day of basketball I’ve seen since the NCAA tournament last year.

Sidney to me is a coaches dream and nightmare all wrapped up in one.

He can change a game, but if you are not careful, when you really need him, he will be sitting on the bench, gassed and sucking down the water.

Maybe I'll give him the benefit of the doubt - perhaps he has a physical problem that we arn't aware of

His metabolism could be way out of wack and he can’t do anything to correct it easily. The reason I’m saying this is he looks exactly the same and has exactly the same stamina as a year ago. At least it seems that way to me.

I think it is his skill level that's improving more than his physicality....

last year he couldn’t make the passes he made yesterday, and he definitely was not making very many threes……

Believe me, I see the kid as a headache as well, just one that if he would get with the program would be worth the effort.

If yesterday didn't get your motor running as a basketball fan.....

You’re dead from the neck up.

Not one boring game all day…..tons if upsets, and a lot of good coaches left scratching their heads.
