CoachCal.com's 94-feet: A series history of UK vs. Arkansas, and bringing the '95 SEC final back to life

Over at CoachCal.com, you'll find a comprehensive look at the Kentucky vs. Arkansas series, with a retelling of one of the great Kentucky games, regardless of opponent, over the last 30 years ... here's an excerpt:

"Arkansas began the game like the champions they were, and against UK's 2-3 zone, intended to control Razorback big man Corliss Williamson, the Hogs knocked down 3-pointer after 3-pointer, rendering the Cats stunned and reeling after Arkansas shot its way to a 35-16 lead midway through the first half. UK, a high-scoring outfit themselves, struggled to keep up with Nolan Richardson's '40 Minutes of Hell,' especially after committing 11 turnovers in the first 11 minutes of the half. The result, Arkansas connected on 8-of-14 3-point shots, most coming off the break, which dutifully followed a UK turnover."

Also included in the article is a glance at both UK's team and individual ranking in the SEC, as well as the Arkansas Series Superlatives, which lets us in on which 'Cats have performed the most admirably against the Razorbacks over the years. Go here for the full preview.

LOL, no kidding.

Nolan Richardson really had it goin’ on in the ’90’s. I kind of miss the ol’ bird, but I definitely do not miss the frenetic, hounding defense his teams played.

Thanks Ken.

Great recap of ’95 game. I had forgotten how shell-shocked Rhodes was after missing those free throws. Probably one of the best decisions that Pitino made was keeping him on the bench in OT. Amazing comeback!

thanks, cthom, I'm glad you liked it.

You know, I should have included something in the piece about RR not playing in the OT.

It was an unbelievable comeback by the Cats, and it’s a game I’ll always remember.
