College Football: Welcome To Game Day! Week 4 Viewing Guide And Open Thread

Welcome to college football game day, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation.  Today we have an interesting slate of games for you that should go a long way toward clarifying the college football scene.  At this point in the season, teams are beginning to gel together and beginning to play some good football, except, apparently, for the Kentucky Wildcats.  But more on that later.

So what are the most interesting games for this Saturday?  SB thinks the 8:00 PM LSU @ West Virginia game is a top contender, and I agree.  Every game Les Miles coaches is going to be at least marginally interesting if only for the post-game interview, but this one pits two ranked teams against each other.  A good test for the Tigers' defense, and for the Mountaineer's offense.

Another interesting game to me will be the 12:21 Georgia Bulldogs @ Mississippi Rebels game.  This one is interesting for two reasons -- #1 is that Ole Miss lost at Vanderbilt last week by an ugly 30-7 score, and if that doesn't make them mad, nothing will. The other is that every game from now on this year is pretty much live or die for Mark Richt.

Anyone who saw the Auburn Tigers @ Clemson Tigers last week has to be wondering if Clemson was really that good, or if Auburn was as bad as we all feared.  At 3:30 this afternoon, Clemson hosts the Florida State Seminoles in what could be the biggest game of the year for both teams.  If Clemson wins, they could wind up in next week's top 15.  FSU needs this win to keep any chance they may still entertain of a BCS championship.

Finally, a game that is not getting much attention, but should be, is the North Carolina Tar Heels @ Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. UNC is 3-0 by doing it with defense, and the Ramblin' Wreck have been piling up the points.  Both teams are poised to move into ACC championship contention with a win in this one.

After all that, here are the game listings, courtesy of the SB Nation mothership.  Enjoy.  Treat this as an open thread.
