What a class act.
Every time I think Coach has shown his best side and there can’t be more, he goes further.
Talking up the positives with the Knight family, referencing Enes’s remarks, apologizing for missing camps, and noting that applications are at an all time high. “His heart is where coal is.” Jeez.
Sure he benefits from doing these things and his reputation his burnished and it helps recruit kids, but there is nothing wrong with benefiting from acts of kindness, from caring about and helping players and their families, and having an remarkable reputation. Gosh, Coach is an impressive in so many ways.
One of the oddities about the age we live in is how frequently quality leaders both men and women are flayed by people “who are not in the arena” and have a small fraction of the talent and work ethic of those they attack. I suppose this has always occurred, but the attacks on honorable, caring people and hard working people just seems over the top.
