The NCAA vs John Calipari. Let the best man win.
The NCAA says that it lacks the manpower to police the NCAA. But they obviously have enough manpower to police John Calipari and the University of Kentucky. Since Cal's arrival, the NCAA has shined it's spotlight on UK more than just about any progam in college basketball. John Wall, Eric Bledsoe, and Enes Kanter have all been put under the NCAA microscope. John Wall payed back some money and was allowed to play. Eric Bledsoe was ruled eligible after his high school transcript came into question. And Enes Kanter was ruled ineligible after it was found that his parents received benefits from a Turkish Pro-Club team beyond what the NCAA considerd reasonable. The latest manpower muscle flex from the NCAA came when a letter was sent to UK officials admonishing them for celebrating Cal's 500th win. I am not saying that the NCAA hasn't been justified, but where did the NCAA get the manpower? I thought they were lacking manpower. I think the NCAA is paying special attention to John Calipari and what takes place at UK under his watch. And you know what? I hope it continues. Why you may ask? Because the more they look and the less they find, proves Cal and UK is clean.
I can only see this fued ending one of two ways. The NCAA actually uncovers violations being committed at UK, like they have at several schools of late, or John Calipari wins a National Championship while at UK and finally gets the credit he deserves and the monkey off his back. That monkey being the NCAA. I for one, am pulling for Coach Cal. And I have been ever since he signed on the $35 million dotted line. I say pay him more. He has proven his worth. Back to back SEC Tournament Championships, an Elite 8 in his first year, and a Final Four in his second year. Not to mention 5 first round picks, and more to follow, and three straight #1 recruiting classes. Some coaches get paid $7.5 million in one year just to get eliminated in the first round of the NCAA tournament and consistantly lose recruits. But I digress. The only thing missing from Cal's trophy case is a NCAA Championship. Make no mistake, the NCAA does not want that to happen. And that is why the NCAA has the manpower to police UK. Well I say bring it on NCAA. If Cal is cheating, and I don't think he is, and the NCAA catches him, than they are doing their job. But if Cal wins a National Championship, and no violations take place at UK under his watch, the NCAA and the rest of the John Calipari haters will have to acknowledge the man's accomplishments. I for one, can't wait for Coach Cal to prove them all wrong.

Certainly I'm all for winning No. 8!
There are quite a few who think this Calipari Plan for the BCS to split off from the NCAA is nothing more than a poke in the NCAA’s eye by Cal. I personally think it is very counter productive for Cal to expend his attention and talents toward tweaking the NCAA and potentially disasterous.
I want Cal to focus on running a clean program, recruiting the next top class and winning No. 8. Let us fans confront the NCAA troll and enjoy ourselves antagonizing them by spitting in their myopic eye.
I don't think it matters what Cal does..
The NCAA is coming after him. I do believe that Cal does take a jab at the NCAA from time to time, because he knows better than anyone what is going on at UK. But it wouldn’t matter if Cal sit on his ass and shut his mouth. The NCAA does seem to be focusing it’s manpower on UK and other big time programs. Seems like selective enforcement to me. And Cal seems to be enemy #1! So I really don’t think Cal would be stupid enough to be cheating and taking jabs at the NCAA at the same time. When Cal wins the National Championship, we can all spit in the eye of the NCAA.
I agree Cal's and Kentucky's relationship with the NCAA will not improve...
if Cal stops tweaking them. But that is not the point at all.
It’s not that Cal is ever going to cheat, consider he has had 2 FF’s vacated without having done anything wrong. That is the point!
Imo, he needs to keep his focus on the program and its business to forestall circumstances developing that might damage UK and the basketball program. Recruiting, player, team and program development, that’s where I want him to maintain his focus – not picking irrelevant fights with the NCAA.
You know that Mark Emmert has a dart board in
his office that has Cal’s picture taped to it. And I bet it has numerous darts stuck in it. lol
At some point Calipari will leave UK .. he said it himself ....
I think, at some point in time, some NBA team (ala Pitino) will offer him so much money that he won’t be able to turn it down. Hopefully, that’s far down the road. Thing is Cal loves college basketball …and that’s the great thing for us UK fans … College ball is still a coaches league, witness the Rotnei Clark affair, and even in spite of the NCAA and their Bullstuff. … whereas the NBA is a players league, see Lebron James, Kobe Bryant etc …
My thinking is Cal, like Coach K, Billy Donovan and others will want to keep that “power” if you will, and hang on at UK for a long time … To me the NCAA fued with Cal is like cutting off their noses to spite their face …. just BS.
