Derby 137 - Who ya got?
For the first and last time this year, the city of Louisville becomes useful, as it hosts the Kentucky Derby. To me, this is probably my favorite day of the entire year, and like Kentucky sports, it connects me to my home state from afar. Every year I spend more time than is healthy analyzing this race backwards and forwards, and can usually come pretty close.
Super Saver? Check.
Mine That Bird? Uh. . . No.
Big Brown? Had him 2nd.
Street Sense? Check.
Barbaro? Check.
What about this year? I see it this way:
1. Shackleford
2. Archarcharch
3. Dialed In
4. Animal Kingom
So I ask you Big Blue Nation. . . who ya got?

Gotta say I'm LOVING the jockey change on Animal Kingdom
Robby Albarado and I have had our problems over the years, so the fact he gets Johnny V on him now makes me want to move Animal Kingdom up. . .
Also, I think Versus is doing a fantastic job with the coverage this year. I’m sure NBC will completely botch it when it switches over, but so far, so good. . .
45 minutes to go.
Still not decided, but liking ArchArchArch and Shackleford.

I just got started an hour ago.
Had to run errands, so drinking had to wait a bit.

Derby Day is sacred to me
Nothing else happens. I was up at 7am this morning – I was like a kid on Christmas; I just couldn’t sleep.
My best friend is scheduled to get married on Derby Day next year. He’s asked me to be his best man. I’m still debating it.
Heh.
My wife loves it more than life.
She was just like you. :-)
BTW, I did pick the oaks yesterday. Wish I had bet more than just $5 across.

#14 Shackleford.
$10 W/P/S. Debating other bets.

Placed a few more.
Just some $2 W/P loss minimizers. If I hit my main bet, they won’t matter much.

Just saw the Villiage People singing Macho Man.

Heh.
They are. I did love that song when I was in college. Guilty pleasure no more, but I do remember that.

Love the name.
I sometimes throw the scratch sheet in the trash and bet on the name.
Good horse, too.

I have a tiny bit of him.
He scares me, too. As does ArchArchArch and Midnight Interlude.

I'm a straight bettor.
I have them all to at least W/P.

Is there anything ...
… worse than your W/P/S horse finishing fourth? I don’t think so.

Glad it worked out for you.
Not for me. I did strongly consider Animal Kingdom. Apparently not strongly enough.

Picked AK on TV before the race.
