This is the first NCAA super-regional appearance ever by the UK softball team, which has made a lot of history this year.  Coming off a road victory at #10 Michigan, the Wildcats now get to host their first super-regional round.  The Bears hav been in Kentucky since last weekend, where they defeated the Louisville Cardinals in the regional round. 

Normally, the higher seed would host the regional, but the softball facilities at Cal are insufficient to meet the NCAA guidelines for hosting the tournament round.  Kentucky was therefore the choice, so the bears got to enjoy another week in the Bluegrass.  I'm sorry we couldn't treat them to better weather than this stormy mess that has been here for a while now, but the California gals seem to have enjoyed themselves anyway with a trip to Churchill downs and practicing at the Louisville facility.

Win or lose, the Wildcats and the Bears will play again tomorrow, two games if necessary., starting at 1 PM.  The winner of this three-game series advances to the College Softball World Series in Oklahoma City.
