Anyone else notice ESPN repeatedly referred to Kanter
as “from Turkey” or “played for Fennerbache”. That’s just not right. Last time I checked he completed 2 semesters at Kentucky. But, he didn’t play at UK. I wonder if this will continue… that Kanter will not be associated with Kentucky once he gets to the NBA

Yep
At this point, I will follow the team that drafts him. (hope it’s Cleveland — been up here in Ohio too long I suppose). But it might also depend on him. Last week, he was quoted as saying he “loved” his time at Kentucky. Past tense. Now you can read that so many ways, but Wall and Cousins seem to use the present tense when they refer to their connection to Kentucky. It made me wonder.

Wondered about this too
When he is drafted, what will Stern say? “With the _ pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the _ select Enes Kanter from (Turkey/the University of Kentucky).”
If it's up to Kanter
that wouldn’t surprise me. I didn’t know how that worked. If you find the source again, I’d love to read it. Would do my big blue heart good! :)
Don't know, but I can't imagine that he wouldn't
with Knight and Kanter guaranteed lottery picks and Harrellson and Liggins possibly being drafted as well.
My preference
With the 1st pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select Enes Kanter, Undergraduate Student Assistant, University of Kentucky.

Good find on the Rick Barnes-Texas article. Thanks
FYI: Myck Kabongo foreshadowed the Gibbs commitment on Twitter (@1MK2). He’s said the same thing about Daniels coming to Texas, so UT fans are understandably hopeful.
I'm going to take the other side of the Barnes salary argument
I grant his facts that the athletic department is self-sustaining, and probably generates a healthy profit for the university. However, the source of funds for Barnes’s raise is irrelevant. I think of it in business terms: The UT system (and by extension, Texas taxpayers) is the “owner” of the of the athletics program. So every dollar that is not used in operations should accrue to the owners, in the form of additional contributions to the university (which in turn should reduce the amount taxpayers need to contribute to fund the system). Just as if you are a shareholder in a company, it would be asinine to argue that the pay of employees in that company is irrelevant because it doesn’t require an additional direct shareholder contribution. Using funds from operations is using money that should be for the shareholders. Managers should pay their employees exactly what it takes to get optimal performance, and not a dollar more. Otherwise, they are just wasting your money.
Now, there is the rub – what is that level of pay? It’s obviously hard to tell. And if the author wanted to argue (as he attempts to in the last paragraph) that the $200k raise was necessary to get optimal performance (as defined by a greater return on investment), that’s a defensible position. But to say that the discussion is irrelevant just because of the source of funds – that is just incorrect, in my view. Money is fungible.
(And yes, before being accused of hypocrisy, I think the same argument applies to Calipari and UK.)
Rex's son to the Cardinals
That’s just wrong, Glenn! You shouldn’t do stuff like that.
Also, am I the only one thinking the Jazz’s interest in Jimmer is a non-story? I mean, aren’t the Jazz required by league rules to select a white guy in the draft? And if they pass on one who played college ball in the state of Utah, doesn’t it activate some kind of Greg Ostertag curse or something?
Kind of changing course here... to what extent can Cal have access to next year's team this summer?
With the looming lockout, UK’s players and the Dominican team coming in, there’s going to be a lot of players around Craft Center.
Am I right is assuming all can probably only mix in pick up games?
Can Cal have all of them over for a cook out at his house? :)

et al?
John Wall, Derrick Rose or others have been asked to attend summer school (if lockout) and be like student coaches, I believe?
