Jeff Eisenberg at Yahoo.com wrote today about Bob Knight's recent tirade in Wabash, Indiana. In there, he reminded me of this earlier comment by Knight re: John Calipari:
"We've gotten into this situation where integrity is really lacking and that's why I'm glad I'm not coaching," Knight said. "You see we've got a coach at Kentucky who put two schools on probation and he's still coaching. I really don't understand that." [Emphasis mine]
Even the ESPN article linked above did not note that UMass was not placed on probation of any type for Marcus Camby's violations that resulted in the vacation of the 1996 Minutemen's Final Four appearance.
This is yet another example of how sadly uninformed Knight is on the subject of Kentucky and Calipari, but in this case, I'll be he has plenty of company. I have not seen a single outlet who reported this story accurately note that UMass did not receive probation of any type for Camby's transgressions.
Knight not only can't handle the truth, he wouldn't recognize it if it jumped up and bit him in the nether regions. It's fairly obvious he thinks Google is a baby food brand.
UPDATE: For the record, Deadspin gets this right today. Why can't the actual, you know, mainstream sports media do so?
