Big Blue Linkapalooza: Nike Hoops Summit Edition
Kentucky's players did very well in the Nike Hoops Summit last night, and Kentucky fans ought to be very happy with the incoming recruiting class. The USA Select Team coach says via Larry Vaught's blog that Michael Gilchrist is a tremendous player, and I totally agree with him. On Friday, Tom Leach and I both agreed on his show that Gilchrist was the guy we couldn't wait to see from this recruiting class.

Teague Finishes 3rd for Mr. Basketball
My guess signing with Kentucky didn't help Teague's chances of winning the award, but seriously, tied for 3rd??
We saw this happen in Alabama with DeMarcus Cousins as well. Don't tell me politics doesn't play a role. To be fair, though, Scotty Hopson may have been a victim of the same thing a few years back when Darius Miller won it.

Anderson to KU, concerned with playing time?
Am I missing something? With Jorts graduation….and Vargus being the only center…
Wouldn’t a 3 star center get plenty of playing time as well?
He's Not A Center
Andersen more a 4 than a 5, sort of a poor (very) man’s Patrick Patterson.

Davis is listed as a Power Forward, Gilchrist listed as Small forward...
IMO, UK needs a 4/5 rather than another 4.
Teague and Mr. Basketball
There has always been a bias in Indiana to give the award to a player going to IU. Alford beat out James Blackmon back in 1983 (I think that was the year).
I watched most of NHS ... was most impressed with Teague ... very fast - Wallesque ... well almost
Thing about all of these kids is …. learning to defend – we’ve seen it two years in a row … I wish that some of their defensive games wer as polished as their offensive game …
On an unrelated note: Why no Masters Edition??? Congrats to Chral Schwartzel for winning the Masters – exiting as always ….
Never More So Than 1988
Woody Austin was Mr. Basketball.
Shawn Kemp wasn’t.

Brandon Knight?
Has there been any new information about Brandon Knight and the Draft. Last I heard he was going to wait to see how the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement played out. I really feel if he stays, it will move him to the 2 position, with Teague taking over primary ball handling duties. I don’t think anyone in the country would be able to press us in the back court with those two handling the ball.
No doubt about that - Teague to me was the most impressive of the four ... he already has the NBA body and can score after contact - lightning quick ..
Any news on who will be our five guy for next year … cant be just Davis or just Wiltjer or just Vargas .. of the three only Vargas seems to be true 5 guy … I would really like to see Vargas turn into the next Harellson – he has some excellent skills (try looking at his u tube stuff) .. I hope he blossoms for us next year
He could blossom,
Josh’s hands were like bricks until this season and suddenly he grabbed anything that got near him. Eloy gets pretty good position, just doesn’t clear the ball away from traffic very well and will not make a power move toward the basket after he gets the rebound. I believe he can improve in these areas and he shows some shot blocking ability as well. He could surprise us next year.

I guess we will get a clear picture of the Enes Kanter impact next year ... I'm sure he helped both Josh and Eloy
I still think (maybe its more hope) Knight and Jones return – I wish them both the best whatever they choose to do – but I think they both come back for different reasons …
I'm not sure what Eloy's weight is,
but I was shocked at how slender he looked when I saw him in person this year. In the Vandy game, he looked like a greyhound on the floor with a bull mastiff (Ezeli). Now Josh, that was a different matter, but he still wasn’t as powerful looking as Festus was.
I came away thinking that Eloy should spend a lot of time in the weight room and pumping down protein shakes this summer as well as working on his hand quickness. Also, he won’t have Enes to practice against like Josh did. I’d dearly love to see another “come from behind” story in the form of Eloy’s development, but I don’t know . . . . .

Maybe he will

Love
Enes! But he earned money while playing ball. Simply put he was a pro! That makes him ineligible to play NCAA. Just because it was oversees doesn’t make it ok. I know that isn’t be popular opinion but it’s the truth.

I think it was a big cultural misunderstanding
I really think his father didn’t understand the NCAA rules, or wasn’t really paying attention to them and thought that educational expenses were allowed. In the end if you look at it black and white then he isn’t eligble but the NCAA has demonstrated a large gray area before and to me I think it is the usage of that gray area that people aren’t happy with. Not giving a guy like Kanter a break yet allowing others to “pay it back” is just wrong to me. Have a rule and stick with it or don’t have the rule at all.
"Come test me every day if you want," says Pujols, "Everything I ever made in this game I would give back to the Cardinals if I got caught."
Calipari going ot the NBA??
Now I don’t know all the ins and outs of NBA ball because honestly i dont keep up with it cept for the former cats player ( and only slightly interested at that) But is it normal for a coach of Cal’s caliber (be that good or bad in some peeps opinions) to only stay at a major college program for 3-4 years then depart to the NBA. I meant Rick P was at UK for like 6 yrs before he went to Boston…I cant think of any great coach that has gotten on at a major college powerhouse and left before at least 4-5 yrs. Cals been here for 2 now….doesnt make sense to me unless there is a good precedent.
