Top 10 reasons to be glad that Arizona beat Duke
Since my five-month-old daughter was fussy last night, I stayed up to watch Arizona beat Duke. Although 1997 still hurts, there are lots of good reasons to be happy about the Arizona win. Here are my top 10.
10. It's Duke. Do we need a reason?
9. If UK loses in the tournament, it won't be to Duke.
8. It was some measure of justice that, although Duke got to play their first two games in the state of North Carolina (as always), they were in Anaheim to face Arizona, so they essentially had an away game as a #1 seed.
7. Kyle Singler is ugly. He's also a senior. College basketball doesn't have to see him anymore.
6. Family harmony. My brother-in-law is a big fan of the "Other Wildcats". For one night, he and I could cheer for the same team!
5. We got to cheer for a point guard nicknamed "Mo Mo"!
4. "Wildcats Defeat Blue Devils 93-77" still sounds good, even when it's the Arizona Wildcats.
3. This.
2. If Duke had won the NC, Coach K would have passed Coach Knight for first in all-time coaching wins in the Final Four, followed by a win in the NC game, producing a media love fest with the Rat-Faced One that would have caused a wave of intense nausea across the BBN for months. (Barring the Apocalypse, Coach K will still get the record, but at least it'll probably be against Nobody State sometime next year.)
1. I still hate Christian Laettner.

Way better than Letterman's by far.
Maybe your new daughter will join you for a great Wildcat win tonight. Winning her first tourney will be a great way to validate her lifetime membership to the BBN.
Oh, and rec’d.
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
Indeed
The little one will be decked out in her UK stuff tonight. (Daddy gets to dress her on game day!) On Senior Night, I looked over at her laying in the bed next to me and said “Josh is having a good game for Senior Night.” She looked back up at me and smiled as if she knew exactly what I was saying. It was priceless.
Enjoy those moments,
they pass too fast.
I woke up feeling BLUE this morning. It's gonna be a great day.
Great fun, and great post AC
- says CBS has filed a copyright claim to the video … I can only imagine what it is.
yeah
that was a man sized dunk, his arm looked 7 ft. long.

Thanks
She’s our first, and being a dad is great! After a brief, precautionary stay in the NICU, everybody’s doing fine. She actually sleeps pretty well, most of the time too, last night excepted. Maybe she just had a premonition that the Dukies would lose, and she didn’t want me to miss it!
Me, either.
Would that it replaced the Laettner shot in all those highlight reels CBS shows every year. If only!
I've always thought that Singler looks like Goofy
That dunk by Williams was just incredible. The two dunks Arizona had in the 2nd half were pretty sweet too – Williams driving to the basket and no Duke player with the guts to contest the shot and Jamelle Horne dunking over Singler.
3 > 2, except for very large values of 2.
Some more Duke dunking goodness
The two 2nd half dunks actually reminded me a lot of 2 dunks that Trevor Booker made on the Devils during his career.
The Derrick Williams drive and dunk reminded me of Booker doing the same thing during the 2008 ACC Tournament (complete with Singler just standing and watching).
The Horne dunk over Singler was rather a bit like this one during a 74-47 route in Littlejohn in 2009 (also known as the most fun basketball game I have ever attended).
3 > 2, except for very large values of 2.
Poor kid
It isn’t his fault that his parent’s didn’t teach him the difference between good and Duke.
So Glad to See the Blue Devils Gone....
…as ti is what SHOULD have happened last year! And isn’t it delicious that Duke is gone and Butler Still alive?

A Marquette Win Tonight
Would make a UK loss easier to accept + it would boost my hopes if Cats win. Duke and UNC both eliminated — doesn’t get much better.

on the other hand
I don’t know what our record is against NC, but it has got to beat our record against Marquette.

The Dookies going down-
Was great! And, as of right now, we’ve outlasted them in this year’s tournament… I saw William’s dunk live and came out of my seat…Charles Barkley making those ather analysts look stupid…Priceless!

do you think this stat says something about favoritism.....
Duke lost as a No. 1 seed in the Sweet 16 for the fifth time, three more than any other school.

thank you!
DUke has got to be the ugliest team in college basketball. You’re right about Singler, but don’t forget Ryan Kelly. Bless his heart, he’s no looker either:

OK, AC,
since you started it, here are my Top 10 why last night was a great night in college basketball.
10. An SEC team won (I know some of you don’t like UF, but they are “kin”)
9. Duke lost.
8. A Left Coast team lost (UCLA is still on the west coast isn’t it? That makes all teams from out there my non-favorites)
7. We won’t have to watch The Rat patrol the sidelines again, harassing the refs, this season.
6. Butler won, and for the rest of this tourney, they are an underdog, and I always root for underdogs except when they’re playing UK. Should they make the dance next year, they’re no longer UD and are on my “no” list.
5. Singler is gone from my TV screen
4. The team that beat us by double figures won (Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know they’re Big Least, but I’m old-school on this)
3. He whose name shall not be spoken!!
2. The one-man team lost, and I hate one-man teams, ’cause I love team ball.
1. Did I mention that Duke lost? Heh, heh, heh!!
Sorry to piggy-back on you , AC, but I’ve been thinking about this all day at work.
Go CAts.

Team ball is what champions are made of.
I’m right there with ya’ oldcat’69.
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
+1
