Last year, you boasted about draft night in New York City being UK's greatest night. Now this may have been your greatest night, but UK has been having "greatest nights" for years. Every time the young men brought home a win from Nashville, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, or even Oxford. You would have gained some UK history if Mr. Wildcat had of lived long enough to sit by your side. Mr. Rupp and Joe B. and others have been bringing these "greatest nights" back home to Lexington for years. I don't doubt for a minute it will continue long after you are gone.
I know you are attracted to the "one and done" players. They get you more attention as the great provider of NBA material. I think last year was a fluke, but now it seems we have a short bench because they all left. Losing Enes was bad, but not having a back-up big man was worse. Your 35-3 record last year was great. Now, though, it seems you can't pull it off again. This team is losing all their road games, not going to win the SEC, possibly losing in the SECT, and will have a bad seed in the NCAA (if we are invited at all). Are we to be happy with another NIT? It has been asked why a coach with no bench won't develop one. You have four people that could be helping this team had they gotten to play earlier. They aren't "one and doners" but Hood, Poole, Polson and Vargas would all have helped this team from the start.
You have talked about us (BBN) being crazy, and this is true to a point. What we are not, though, is stupid. You made the statement that the SEC wasn't important. It is to us. We have more outright titles and tournament titles than all the other SEC teams combined. What do you tell the fans from Pikeville to Paducah now that you can't deliver your "greatest moments" now? If this team wins out we have lost the fear and respect that a UK team usually takes into the tournament.
