CoachCal.com's Guy Ramsey writes about Monday's UK basketball practice
Money quote from John Calipari:
"You missed free throws and the basketball gods got you," Calipari said. "You didn't deserve to win the game."
Ramsey expertly runs down the events of today's practice, including drills and instruction given to the team as they attempt to bounce back from their first loss of the season. For the outstanding full story, go here.

Sounds like he is cranking up the pressure...I love it!
But I was disappointed to see that the only mention of free throw practice was this line.
He called on his players to spend time shooting free throws outside of practice when not studying for finals
Disappointing that he still will not work with the team on this important aspect of the game. Is this stubbornness Ken? I am sort of baffled that there isn’t more emphasis here given his teams’ history in that area.

Over at KSR is a quote from Teague
Cal requires all the players to shoot 50 FTs at the end of practice. Not sure if that is enough, but it is more than we thought.
There need to be
Consequences for misses-like your teammates having to run while you watch. If they really are a “team”, that’ll make an impression. It’s the one thing I hated most about HS practices, but it made me a good FT shooter.

Since the 20 hour rule was instituted 20 years ago or so
college coaches began relying on their players to shoot ft’s on their own to supplement what little ft shooting they do in actual practice. As we all know, this has adversely affected game-time ft shooting.
The thing about the IU game, and what I feel fans are way overreacting to, is UK’s ft shooting in that game. You have to look at who took the fts — Davis, with his long freakin’ arms will never, ever be a great ft shooter, and what can you say about Lamb. He shoots 90% from the line, but makes only 7 of 11 against IU. In my mind, that’s the pressure of the moment gettin’ to him. Then you’ve got Teague, who makes under 60% on the year, and he steps to the line and drops in 3 in a row in a very high pressure situation. Of course Jones missed two, and quite frankly, after the way he played I’m a little surprised he found the ft line at all.
On the season, UK is outshooting their opponents both in % and number of ft’s taken, so I’m not stressing about their work at the line. But hey, that’s just me.
Cal's next move?
See in game such things are going to happen, if someone is wining the game the other one has to loose. But the thing is important if we are loosing what we are learning from so that we can improve our game..Now just want to see Cal’s next move!!
