SEC Football Helmets. A bit of history.
The above link is courtesy of our member, Remote Cardinal and was also posted in the fanshots, but I thought this was a pretty cool look at all the SEC teams’ helmets both current and of years gone by so I wanted to share it on the front page (thanks, Remote Cardinal). I’m sure a bit of work went into the above compilations and it’s pretty neat to see, so take a quick look. Personally speaking and about UK helmets only, I would say that my favorite helmet would have to be that of the one worn in the years 1963-1968 (it’s similar to what Alabama currently has). I know they are super plain are aren’t real flashy or anything, but I have a soft spot for old-school things and for me, the simple, very basic helmet just conjures up images of those old black-and-white photos and especially images of the coaches of that time as back then coaches would actually dress for games. Shirts and ties, long coats, fedoras, you know, really "dress"? Yeah, I love that sort of polish and refinement.
