Where I Come From: EA Sports NCAA Football 2011 Available Now
This post is sponsored by EA Sports NCAA Football 2011.
Thanks to all for reading and commenting on the "Where I Came From" series of sponsored posts. I enjoyed doing them.
A message from our sponsor, EA Sports:
When you go to particular school or grow up a around college football you are more than just a fan. It’s who you are. We thought we could leverage this pride in your roots and show that ‘where you come from’ is more than just a statement about geography. By positioning NCAA Football 11 as a game that understands this pride and is authentic to these traditions, the takeaway should be that anything that is in college football is in NCAA Football11.
And this doesn’t just include game play (though that’s a huge part of it). It’s rivals and mascots; it’s legends and stories. It’s those things that are at the very fabric of the game itself. Of course the game is great this year as well. With authentic entrances, mascots and specific offenses for each team the term "where I come from" takes on a much larger meaning. While playing NCAA Football 11 is ultimately a great sports sim, it should also give you a sense of the pride and emotion one has for being a fan of a team they will never not be a part of.
For you gamers out there, enjoy the game!

Wonder how they are "sponsoring" this series???
Does this mean these ads are over?
I AM THE CAT......The Cat In The Hat!!!
Well ...
… the posts, anyway. Don’t know about the display ads. :-)

This is probably going to sound irritating Tru, or maybe even incendiary,
but it appeared we had sold our souls. Dont get me wrong, you always do great content, just didnt like EA sports dictating it. They already make enough money off of kids who dont see anything for their likenesses.

Almost every college SB Nation site did it
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way...
I know, just didnt enjoy it seeming the way it did.
It is no knock on Tru at all, just did not like it

It makes me believe that this was mandatory
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way...
yeah,
this is just a guess as I don’t really know for sure, but I’m also thinking that this EA sports series was SB Nation mandated and while I don’t really love the pic of Tebow either, it’s probably stuff like this (an agreement with EA Sports) and the revenue from them that keep the SB Nation family of sites free. I can handle the occasional image of Tebow if it means I can spend my money on other things. No problem for me.
It doesn't really bother me
The posts may have been sponsored, but they were still UK topics.

Switch your web browser to Mozilla (free to download)
which I think is tons better than other browsers and then download Ad Blocker Plus. I haven’t dealt with those ridiculous ads for nearly a year. A fellow CCer let me know about ABP. It’s great.

Shhhhh......Ads pay the bills ...
… So we don’t have to. ;-)
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
All the more annoying
to visit a UK blog and see huge images of Tim Tebow on either side of my screen.
yeah, and that was part of it too, it is all so much crap.....
I AM THE CAT......The Cat In The Hat!!!
Wishful thinking
Wish they made it for the WII.
Picked the game up 10 hours ago, have played 4 hours.
Now I’m at work…I wish I was still at home.
For those of you planning on playing as UK…make sure you soften your expectations, and adjust the game difficulty level accordingly.
Want to to mow through all comes? Play as Alabama…they’re ridiculous in this game.
Mike Rutherford over at Card Chronicle says the bloggers were compensated
“better then usual, but still poorly” for participating in the series.
I AM THE CAT......The Cat In The Hat!!!
I have no comment on the compensation.
I will only say that this blog is a commercial enterprise.
Look at it this way — at least we don’t charge for our content. But somebody has got to pay for this fancy platform, the massive server farm, and all the bandwidth we can hog.
No such thing as a free lunch. :-)

Didnt mean to sound like I was being combative.....just hate that we have to do this commercializing
just to keep things afloat. Please forgive me if I came off that way.

Comment by Melvin Munn on his radio program, Life Line, in the late ‘50s into the ’60s. It was his appeal to the American people to quit letting politicians give the American taxpayer’s money to every domestic and foreign program that existed.
The comment was: “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.” Meaning we would not be in the fix we are now if we had listened.
Tru is correct; “this blog is a commercial enterprise.” AKA free enterprise and capitalism.
Happy days are here again,
The skies are Wildcat Blue again,
We've got the best recruits again,
Happy days are here again.
I have no problem in general with ads, sponsored posts, etc.
TANSTAAFL after all.
But couldn’t EA have taken a few minutes to customize the ads to different programs? Put Randall Cobb in the ads on ASOB. Or, since they seem to want to use former college players, put Woodson on there.
I was also annoyed with this particular post, which is really nothing more than an advertisement. I’m not arguing against the idea of sponsored posts — the other posts in this series were somewhat interesting — or against the idea of advertising; I’m arguing against the specific form, used here, of a post that is nothing but an advertisement.
For all the time
and effort you put into this; you better be compensated, and well. You (and Ken, et al) do a great job and deserve any moolah that heads your way.
Eric Crawford
Thinks the college players should get some of the big $$. He has a good point.

Who is EA? and what do they sell? I’ve never heard of them!
Happy Days are here again! Wildcat's have #1 recruiting class again!
That is why I
don’t know or have any use of such!
