This website has a page of jokes. It may be unnerving to Husky fans to hear the same jokes they hear whenever they play Washington State or Oregon (Whoregon). If you happen to find any more joke pages please post links.
These websites prove, if any proof was necessary, that these jokes are universal all over the world. Washington people also sleep with their grandmothers and have no teeth, etc.
How do you find the UW campus? You go north until you smell it…and then west until you step in it.

and I have a big huge UK sticker on my back window…. I’m just hoping things don’t get violent. These Pac NW “liberals” are a lot less accepting of opposing ideas than they want everyone to believe.
GO BIG BLUE!!
I wish I could say that the Husky fan base was devoid of idiots and trolls, but alas, I don’t think there’s any major college team that doesn’t have their share of objectionable fans.
I think my fellow Husky fans should be happy that the program has progressed to the point where we are competing with (and sometimes beating out) programs like Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas and Duke for basketball recruits.
Cheers, and while I think the signs are pointing strongly to Jones signing with Washington, I know you guys will still have an incredibly impressive recruiting class this year. Plus you got Kanter away from us, and he’s probably the bigger impact guy this season…
Thanks for that.
And thanks for visiting A Sea of Blue. You’re always welcome.

What is T.J. going do?? I Love the weather in Lexington, especially in the Summer. Snakes, every kind of bug you can imagine, leaches. What a wonderful place to live.
Hmmmm… maybe I’ll move to Seattle
by Kentucky Humidity-lmao on May 19, 2010 3:37 PM EDT reply actions
I beg to differ
Average yearly rainfall in Seattle is 36.2 inches.
The annual average precipitation at Lexington is 45.91 Inches
It's not the amount of rain
it’s how often it rains, which is around 150 days per year in Seattle. For those challenged by math, that’s roughly rain once every 2.3 days or so, although it often falls as a mist or light rain, hence the meager rain amounts.

It really is a myth about the rain. We say that because the Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful part of our country, and we try to keep people away. But the secret has been out for awhile now. So much Love for the 206!

Not Myth At All
I have a collegaue who just moved back to Chicago from Seattle TO SEE THE SUN MORE OFTEN.
by FortyYearCatFan on May 19, 2010 4:38 PM EDT up reply actions
It is meteorologically impossible for it to be a myth.
Of course, I’m sure somebody could make a statement that was a myth if it was exaggerated enough, but it is an undeniable fact of meteorology that northwestern Washington and parts of British Columbia gets more rain, and more overcast days, than Lexington or even Louisville.
It cannot be otherwise. We aren’t talking about the Pacific Northwest, which is a vast area much larger than Kentucky, often including northern California, Washington, Oregon, and even British Columbia.
The University of Washington is in Seattle. It is therefore a meteorological impossibility for you to have fewer rainy days than Lexington because of the proximity of the Olympics. Seattle averages 201 cloudy days per year, 150 days of which include precipitation. That is no myth, it is a fact.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
Depends on how you measure “more rain”. It is a fact that Lexington averages more rainfall per year than does Seattle: 45.7" per year for Lexington vs. 37.1" for Seattle. Seattle has more rainy and overcast days, for sure, and that’s what people focus on more than rainfall totals, so your overall point stands.
But Lexington does actually get more rain than Seattle…
Very true.
Seattle rarely gets thunderstorms, and almost never gets snow. Lexington gets plenty of both, and most of your rainfall totals come in short, intense bursts.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
Seattle is the king of light, misty rain. We locals pride ourselves on not using umbrellas, mostly because we don’t often get really heavy rain.
I’ll admit that winters can get rather dreary with all the grey, and it doesn’t snow enough to make winter fun (at least at the lower elevations – plenty of skiing is available within a short drive). But man, when it’s sunny here there’s few places on earth that can compare.
I can easily understand those who winter in places like Hawaii or Southern California and spend their summers in Seattle.
I went to Seattle in February
and was totally shocked by how relatively warm it was. I always assumed it was cold there in winter, since it’s so far north.
by blue kentucky girl on May 19, 2010 8:45 PM EDT up reply actions
Statistics = Lies.
I was born and raised in Hawaii and spent 4 years in Seattle going to UW. I grew up right outside of downtown Honolulu where we get about 90" a year. People used to ask how the rain was in Seattle and I would reply that it rains more back home. Granted, Hawaii’s rain is a warm rain. It’d actually be sunny while we got some small showers, hence the large rainfall numbers, but we still have a reputation of having really sunny weather. There’s also a place in Hawaii called Mt. Waialelae which is the rainiest spot in the US. They get like 500" or something crazy like that a year.
Granted, Seattle was very overcast… especially in late fall and winter. It was pretty depressing to tell you the truth.
But if you can survive the winter, very little compares to spring and summer in Seattle. It hardly rains, the weather is mild and having sunlight till 9:00pm+ is quite a trip.
Anyway, back to my point., I don’t think you can really compare rain days as I mentioned earlier it can rain and still be sunny. Or if it rains while you sleep, isn’t that like a tree falling in a forest with nobody around… hehe!
Oh yeah, here’s a little link regarding Seattle and the misconception of it being linked as the rainest: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18827213/

So how is the Humidity, water maccasins, copperheads, bugs the size of a soccer ball? I went to Springfield, Mo. to visit my sister in the summer a couple years back. Same weather as where you are. I wouldn’t go there in the summer again if someone paid me.

Vast difference ...
… between Missouri and Kentucky, weather wise. We have few snakes and our bugs are no bigger than yours. Missouri, on average, is hotter in the summer and gets more rainfall. Lexington, in particular, is cooler and drier.
I have spent some time in Seattle and Olympia. Nice place. Rains more than here, but it is a nice place. Reminds you a little bit of a warmer England. The humidity in Washington, particularly in the maritime regions, is higher than here, on average, by a good bit. The temperature just doesn’t get as high.
Plus, the weather in Washington, like Kentucky, is pretty variable due to geography. East of the Cascades, the weather must be cooler and drier. Western Washington must be relatively wet due to the effects of orographic uplift from the Olympic and Cascade Mountains and the proximity to large bodies of water.
In Kentucky, the mountainous east is cooler due to the influence of the mountains. Southwestern Kentucky is warmer and somewhat wetter.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
The way you took the meterologist point of view
in describing both places….makes me not want to live in either place.
But having grown up in central Kentucky, spending grad school in Boston and now living 10 years in the NW I can definitely say I’m happy here. Miss things about home, but pros weigh much heavier toward life out here for me personally.

In late summer the weather in Oregon is lovely, warm and dry, as if conjured by some Chamber of Commerce to atone for the wetness past. There is a sense that you can see forever, or failing that, at least, and with ease, to the awesome mountains that surround Portland. The air is clear, as if from another preindustrial age, since potential polluters fear the power of Oregon’s ecologically alert citizenry, and after the long gray months so recently past and so soon to return, it seems a special gift. On days like this it is inconceivable to stay inside, inconceivable to work, and there is a feeling that no business is being transacted in Portland at this moment, that an entire state may be on vacation.

Question?
Does this young man know that most fans in 2 states are waiting on him? Yes I guess he does. He may be a “Drama King” He sure wants his 15 Min’s of fame.
Happy Days are here again The sky is all ways BLUE again Happy days are here again !
I don’t think “Drama King” is an accurate representation of Jones. By all accounts he’s a very nice kid who is simply having a really hard time making up his mind. And the press conference last month wasn’t his idea – it was set up by the school’s AD, and Jones went along because he wanted to help share the spotlight with his teammates that were also making their college choices known. It just so happened that he honestly hadn’t made up his mind yet and when he picked the Washington cap, he was literally deciding on the spot. Predictably, when he called Calipari (his other top choice) he began to have 2nd thoughts.
I think
that we as Kentucky fans should be thankful for the team that we DO have and not lamenting over the outcome of one student-athlete.
So what if people think that T. Jones was made for the DDMO? It doesn’t mean that he can’t become a good or even an outstanding player at UW. I have come to the realization that even if he doesn’t thrive in their system that he can eventually become a top notch player in the NBA.
Anybody care to remember how Rajon Rondo performed during his tenure here at UK? And just look at him now… :)

and it’s not all about ticket sales…television deals and advertising is just as much a piece of the pie. It’s easier to make money in the 13th MM than the 45th.
Also, who’s to say that ticket sales won’t drop off if the team isn’t in the playoffs every year. The Sounders FC set a US record for soccer ticket sales…they might drop fast if they keep playing bad soccer.

18-year-old kids who go to school to play basketball could give a crap about the weather where they go to school.
They are either supposed to have their head in a book, be on the basketball court either playing or practicing, or spending time chasing girls. I would dare say that site seeing and what the weather is like really doesn’t even enter the equation when picking a school.
With the possible exception
of schools located near fabulous beaches, the better to chase the girls on.

Time to celebrate.

Except that it's been mid-70s and sunny, and I've
been spending 7:30-6:00 in meeting rooms. Ug. The evenings are nice.

I haven’t heard that from anywhere else, and his mother expressly explained why he didn’t sign an LOI. I won’t believe that until I have independent confirmation.
