This is like Christmas being cancelled....
we get to watch another program (not named UK) win another championship. Butler may not be healthy enough to give their best performance.

Here's my prediction....
I think Duke will score more points then Butler and win the game.
However, if Butler were to score more points then Duke, then I would give them the win.
It all depends on which team can score the most points, IMO.
It’s going to be a tough one to predict, until it’s over and then it will be very clear who won.
Well, that’s my prediction, I think… wish me luck…

I can't watch this
It’s just making me ill. These two teams can’t even guard each other.
I know our Cats didn’t earn the right to do so, but they should have been here and waxed the floor with both of these frauds.
UK would not have easily beaten Duke last Saturday if at all given the way they played.
Certainly it would have been very tough. Duke was on offensively.
Last night’s championship game notwithstanding.
But yes, UK would have had an easier time against Duke and Butler than it did WVU. Sometimes, basketball is about matchups. Butler beat big teams, but none of these teams scored inside as often or as well as UK, so I think we would have matched them up well. We would not have had a lot of break away baskets though.

Have decent pitching (except Lincoln), and a decent lineup. Problem is, Dusty likes to run out the worst possible lineups he can……and he ruins pitchers……I could go on and on, but I’ll save that for Red Reporter…..

Admittedly,
I’ve seen very little of Butler, but they never get rattled. Seems a lot of this comes from their coach. I can’t believe at 33 he’s so comfortable being in this game. I’ve been very impressed with him.. and his story. Go Butler.

I'd guess
he’ll stay one more year then on to a lower level Div 1 team on the level of Conference USA or possibly a bottom feeder team in a major conference. Hope he doesn’t go for the bottom feeder school tho, he’d have more upside getting non-BCS program on an upswing.
In any case, I just can’t see Butler coming up with the money he’s going to be worth after this year.
I think he will learn from the Butler coaches before him.
Avoid going somewhere where you can’t win – 3 years and you are fired. Go somewhere where you can win (Ohio State – Motta for example) and you can succeed. That means a good but bigger mid-major or a good BCS team with potential and a few returning players. Oregon might actually fit that model, but he wouldn’t be hurt waiting a year and getting another 30 win season under his belt.

Danggit, they almost pulled it off……….I hate that Butler lost it…….I think I was as disappointed in a non UK loss as I have ever been and most of it wasn’t about Duke winning. Butler so deserved that win. Butler played a Duke team that brought its A game tonight. I do think this is the second best championship game I have ever seen. Really good game
P.S. Yall I am getting a feeling that we will be getting some good news very very soon. don’t want to be made fun of for thinking it so I will keep it to myself but I am feeling good about some things.
If you think Wall and Cuz and PPat, or any one of them, are coming back...

I didn't conclude anything. That is why I said "if" -- it is conditional.
She may be thinking good recruiting news is on the horizon. Or maybe just that Cal isn’t going to the Nets after Coach K turns them down.
But I figured I’d give her a wish we all have that isn’t very likely so she could say “I told you so” later. It is an “I told you so” I’d love to have rubbed in my nose.
I also meant the comment in good humor, but I prefer not to overuse the smiley fact thing. In real life, I’m told I have a dry wit, at least by the people that get me at all. The rest say less kind things about me.

The good and the stupid poopy heads:
1. Good points on parity
-most all of the really good mid-majors (Butler, N. Iowa, Murray, etc) were as good as the middle BSC type conference schools, and this tournament showed it on the neutral courts.
-parity exists primarily b/c the bigger programs lose guys early to the NBA. They mentioned the mass exodus from UNC and the likely one with UK as examples of how there would be no parity of those guys stay in school even 3 years much less 4.
2. Bobby Knight interviewed and against brought up one and dones and how they don’t even go to school in the spring. No mention I heard (even alluded) to Cal or UK. I hope all our players finish the spring as Wall already said he would. Orton is the question mark, I guess, but I would love to have that fact (all our 1ndones finished the semester) to counter-point our critics.
3. Butler’s coach will have people calling and his choice now is to be like Few at Zag and build his own mid-major dynasty or be like a Matta at Ohio St. and use this as a stepping stone to a major program.
Butler’s coach was just awesome in the post game. The only way it would have been better is if he had said “Duke sucks and y’all watch, Coach K will cry croc tears again before the night is over” before stepping off the podium.
