Since I have the blog to myself tonight

I’ll go ahead and say it: The Cats would kill either of these teams playing now.

I’ll also say, the officiating in this game is wierd.

by BCinVA on Apr 3, 2010 6:34 PM EDT reply actions

So, nothing but complaints from me tonight

The camera angle is not good and playing on the elevated floor is not helping either team.

Just not commenting since I’m on iPhone.

I'll join for a bit.

Butler isn’t going to make it easy for MSU, thank goodness. How can you root against Coach K? (“K” as in Kid, not “K” as in Kyajkcbuttassiski.) Butler’s players are keeping their cool, no panic.

I agree with you, any team that can beat Syracuse

Should be able to hang with MSU. Good for Butler that Lucas is not playing tonight.

Good Clark Kellogism

He has to “look aggessively at the basket.” I guess he has to do that because he lacks “spurtability.”

start hitting the boards. They have pretty much conceded the offensive glass.

Pretty fortunate to be as close as they are. They are hitting the defensive boards better than I thought they would

Appears Orton Is Out

Facebook states:

On to San Fran tomorrow….time to get to work

which intimates he’s leaving school — thus costing the Cats a scholarship. Classless if true.

Man, I cannot for the life of me see how staying in school 3-4 more weeks to save the

scholarship would cause him any delays. Starting to change my opinion about this guy.

Leaving School Not In Good Standing

i.e., not finishing the semester negatively impacts NCAA graduation rate rules and possibly to the point of negating a scholarship.

But still leaving school for whatever reason is still negative — although he could come back for finals I suppose.

it just doesn’t make sense to me. I know he is got an awesome vertical leap and excellent blocking skills but nothing jumped out at me saying “PRO PRO PRO”. He doesn't

give a crap about UK and his drop out effect on APR, if he in fact does drop out – nothing is confirmed at this point. But, it wouldn’t surprise me after watching his attitude this year. He wears his emotions and he rarely looked like he was well attired.

by hoboat33 on Apr 3, 2010 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions

APR

The 2010 number won’t be announced by NCAA until 2012 and even then, it’s averaged with APR from 2007-08-09.

by FortyYearCatFan on Apr 3, 2010 10:11 PM EDT up reply actions

So it shouldn't cost UK a scholarship, if he drops out?

That would help my thinking.

Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!

by a2d2 on Apr 3, 2010 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

It's a four year

running average. Somewhat toothless since there is two levels of warnings before you lose a scholarship but it creates bad press. In Cal’s case there’s two positives. First, the bad press doesn’t bother him anymore and second, he’d be just as happy with just 10 scholarships.

losing sucks some serious a** and I’m really not that good at it. But, if Huggins and his boys can somehow find a way to put a serious hurt on the Devils, you know, a “no mercy” kind of thing? — well, that would help ease the pain of losing a bit. It won’t help you as I see that your son is a Duke fan (how did that happen, exactly??) but it will certainly help me…. : )

Just logged back on

and I missed the “cricket” talk. now I’m REALLY pissed at Duke.

and a very good game, at that.

Go Butler!!

I just don’t want this to be the year that is remembered as “UK had that amazingly talented team, and then Duke went on to win the NC championship”. That’s bad, so very bad, and there aren’t enough drugs or drink in this world to make that palatable….

Ooh...

My thought: if such a big stadium is not reasonable to fill, why not use a smaller one? I mean, out of the 65 teams in the tourney, how many pairings could do as well as the NCAA apparently believes can happen?

by David Hooper on Apr 3, 2010 11:15 PM EDT up reply actions

aren't these

things decided years in advance? I know that next year’s FF is at Reliant in Houston and in 2013 I believe the FF is at Cowboy Stadium, so they are obviously expecting a certain number of turnout, or are just getting a deal on the site??

by BigSkyCat on Apr 3, 2010 11:17 PM EDT up reply actions

it WOULD have been reasonable

to expect a full stadium if this had been a UK/Duke, Kansas/Syracuse kind of Final Four. This sad little assembly? Not so much.

Even if they win

this year (perish the thought), D—- still wouldn’t qualify as a dynasty. Only relavent the past 20-30 years while ferret face has been coaching.

well, this has been fun, guys!

Who am I kidding, this has been a nightmare from which I fear I’ll never awaken. But anyhoo, guess I need to get off here, as I have idiotically committed myself to attending an early Easter service in the morning. It just gets better and better!!

When does next season start again? Can we just cancel the rest of this season on account of it being lame?

On site

Well, that was a depressing ending to the night. I don’t know what it sounded like on tv, but as Duke pulled away, Lucas Oil stadium became a morgue.

Watching this final four is horrible as I keep thinking that the Cats could have beaten all of these teams if we hadn’t had our worst shooting night of the season last week. Don’t think that I can stand to stay and watch Duke win the title, so we will probably look to sell out tickets.

by wklawdog on Apr 3, 2010 11:41 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

our you

could witness Butler pull off the impossible!

by tenken on Apr 3, 2010 11:44 PM EDT up reply actions

OMG,

you went! I was wondering if you would.

If I may say something, let me say, you are already there, don’t sell. I mean, leave the NC game early if you have to, but don’t sell. You might very well miss an incredible game in which the Dookies fall?

But, then again, if you encounter fans like I encountered when I was in Houston for the South Regional, and considering you will be witnessing the NC game, no less, you may very well end up in prison. You are a lawyer though, right?? Yeah, that would help… ; )

by BigSkyCat on Apr 3, 2010 11:49 PM EDT up reply actions

you

went to the Houston game anyway/ Did you have a good time?

by tenken on Apr 3, 2010 11:52 PM EDT up reply actions

yes,

we had a really good time, thanks for asking. : )

Seeing Duke win 2 games wasn’t all that fabulous (your son would be soo jealous, I got lots and lots of pictures ; )), but we did meet up with family (my sister-in-law currently lives in Houston and my mother and stepfather drove down from San Antonio to meet us) and we did do some site-seeing and random partying in addition to the tourney games so it was a very worthwhile trip. We have applied (apparently, and I didn’t know this, but if you want to get seats to the FF early, you have to “apply”) for tickets for next year’s FF in Houston. : )

by BigSkyCat on Apr 3, 2010 11:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Cool!

and yes he would be jealous! Although right now I would like to kick his little tail! :)……..that sounds like fun! I thought about applying for the final four this year……..parents live in Beaumont so I would have to not worry about hotel but the likelihood of getting tickets probably isn’t too good :)

by tenken on Apr 4, 2010 12:02 AM EDT up reply actions

Glad you had

a great time by the way :)…….I think if we moved anywhere, Houston would be where I would want to be!

i have been a BIG defender that it is not illogical for a NBA team to draft orton in the lottery (mem girz drafted thabeet 2nd last year after all) but it is not logical for him to go. afraid i am in tenken’s camp – bye bye orton…
