When asked what he would like his legacy to be
First he said, “Someone who wore the jersey with pride”.

Lost my feed twice,
Had to refresh it, losing some of it, but am getting it back.
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
Has to make you wonder though...
Cal was so out-front about Wall and Cousins and it being their time to go but then encouraging Patterson to come back. Makes me think that Cal doesnt think Pat is really NBA ready. Ofcourse Pat said that Cal told him that while he would love to coach him another year he wanted him to do what was right for him and his family, but that is a very different message than what was given to Cousins and Wall.
It is not worth an intelligent man’s time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that.

Could be PPat didn't need as much guidance?
Just guessing ;-)

I dont think so
Remember when I posted that quote from the article that said that Cal was “encouraging Patterson to return?” Then to hear this again today makes me think that Cal either doesnt feel that Patterson is 100% NBA ready or that he doesnt think he will go too high in the draft. Just my opinion, but Cal’s response to Pat was quite a bit different from the response he gave Cousins and Wall.

Ppat's family situtation different...
I believe it is easier to “push” cousins and wall versus Ppat. Also, remember Cal has said the only reason you should come back is if you want to work to be the #1 pick. Maybe he thinks PPat is only one that could do that. who knows?
only one rule in my house - uk has to be your favorite college bball team

Could be...
PPat is a GLUE man and THE player who can model sacrifice for team. He could also be the player that really loved UK, even more than the freshman profess.

From Cal's Facebook:
I am so proud of Patrick Patterson and happy for his family. I only wish I had three years to coach him! Then again, he may not have stayed here three years if I was coaching him, as we’re seeing this year!!! Make us proud, Patrick.

I feel like I should start with the requisite professed love for Calipari....
and god knows I adore the man and what he’s done and I hope he stays here a million years. HOWEVER, this comment really rubbed me the wrong way when I read it on facebook earlier. For one thing, it sounds cocky and too self-promoting for my tastes (I’m aware Cal’s a major self-promoter, and actually I really like that about him since it’s in the service of UK basketball. But maybe a bit more subtlety wouldn’t hurt). And I don’t love what it implies about Patrick. I mean, Pat COULD have gone after last year if he had wanted. This comment seems to imply that the only reason Patrick stayed for three years is that he wasn’t ready for the NBA before, which is to me just inaccurate—it sells short both Patterson, both his game and his laudable academic motivation, AND the specialness of playing for Kentucky.
I don’t know, maybe I’m being overly sensitive, though. Obviously, this is so not a big deal.

I agree
It rubbed me the wrong way as well – particularly the part that I emphasized.

The next player to leave may still be Dodson
I know a few people here say there is nothing to it. I have read elsewhere that he will not be back. Of course, no official word has come out. The one aspect that I think is worth considering is that Dodson has done nothing to dispell rumors that he may leave. To me, that means that there is certainly smoke to that fire. I would love to have him back if for nothing else the experience he can bring to what is going to be one of the youngest ( if not the youngest) team in college.
Thank you and good luck to Patrick Patterson. He will go down as an all-time favorite players in UK history for more reasons that on the court performance. He is a class act and that is what I will remember him the most for. I really hope that you have a long and productive pro career. Hopefully you get drafted by a team that we get to see on a regular basis, instead of no man’s land ( hear me Clippers).
Slower Traffic Keep Right!
Matt Jones swears Dodson is gone
Of course, you have to take what he says with a grain of salt. He likes to say he knows a lot of behind the scenes stuff…..then clams up when people ask what he knows.
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
is just a freight train coming your way.
