Kanter a "polished player for his age" | Vaught's Views
Interesting analysis from Matt Kamalsky on Kanter's game. He and I see Kanter about the same way. He has a very mature and refined game for his age, but he lacks Cousins' physical gifts.
Kanter will be a big asset, and he will start from day 1, and can face or post equally well.

Well... someone needs to make up the 70 ppg that we're losing
Might as well be Kanter! ;-)
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
Okay ...
… now we just need to find … oh, 50 more or so and we’re good. :-)
I guess Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb might score a few, so lets call it another 25 or so.

He will NOT score 20 ppg if Cal employs the DDMO.
And has the players to employ the DDMO.

Heh.
Sure, he can score 20. Probably won’t but could.
Shawn Taggert averaged 10.4/game in the DDM, and he was not nearly as talented offensively or as good an offensive rebounder as Kanter appears to be.
Better bet would be around 15 per game, but you never know.

Sure he could.
Peyton Siva could score 18 ppg, but he won’t (as much as I wish that he would). I think the Taggert example makes my argument. Whatever, I’ve been wrong before, that’s for sure. I thought Samuels would be a beast.

Kanter Will Best Cousins
In PPG 15.1 and RPG 9.9 — due primarily though not exclusively to more MPG.

I dont know why
I like Kanter’s game but I cant picture him as a 5, more of a 4. I guess he played ok against the 5s in the Nike Summit but the 5s this yr dont look all that strong. I still would like to see a legit 5 come in.
Comparisons to Cousins?
I honestly don’t see the point in compaing Kanter to Cousins. They have different games, and will play on a team that is almost completely different. But I guess us over-zealous Cat fans have nothing better to do until the gridiron Cats start playing :)

Ha Ha …. we gotta have something to talk about!!!
True "Fives" in college basketball
This discussion got me thinking… I certainly havn’t seen any guys I’ve thought of as a true center in these high school all star games. Cousins, Zoubek, Aldrich, Monroe, and every other big man I can think of is graduating or going pro.
Will there be any true dominating big men in the college game next season?
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
Monroe Is A 4
And might be a 3 in the League.

chirop
thats my point……..lots of 4s but not so many 5s. I’m no student of DDM, so maybe a true 5 isnt necessary to be successful with that offense.
From what I understand, the "center" lines up to the strong side of the lane and essentially collects rebounds
Its not all that different from the 4 out 1 in offense that Duke ran to near perfection with Elton Brand et al.

Weak side.
Not strong side. The idea is to keep the driving lanes clear of bodies.

Ah, you're correct
I think I knew it sounded wrong as I was typing it.
