Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

It's easy for us in our middle-income, middle-aged lives to tell any young man from modest to immodest circumstances he should stay in class and give up the cash. We pay our own bills, not their bills. We live in our circumstances, not their circumstances.

So very true

I’m reminded of the idiotic middle aged guy who posted a rant on Daniel Orton’s Facebook a couple weeks back.

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Gonna have to agree with ya there Doc...

I think this is a pretty good slant from Mr Clay. There’s no mile tougher than the mile you walk in someone else’s shoes!

Years ago

I hired a kid out of UK Comp Sciense school and he was on scholarship. He took the near 6 figure income and his mom and dad were over joyed.

He had the skills to do the job and he did it well. Last I saw of him he was firmly planted in a nice upper middle class life and still in IT and still has not completed his degree.

Changing how you think will change what you think.

Bravo To John Clay

And yiamas to Aeschylus who put it more poetically:

"It is easy when we are in prosperity to give advice to the afflicted."

"Perhaps the fact that we have seen millions voting themselves into complete dependence on a tyrant has made our generation understand that to choose one's government is not necessarily to secure freedom" - Hayek

Great article by Mr. Clay and it certainly spins the one & done

conversation in another direction. I personally think for all the talk about Wall and his development during the season….the job Cal did with Cuz was off the chart. What Kentucky fan can picture Cuz in their mind and not smile?

I will admit I was on the “he’s going to get thrown out” bandwagon and I’ve never been soooooo happy to WRONG!!! Hope you keep smiling Cuz……we’re going to miss you!!!

You can't fix "stupid"!

I was too JM

When the season started I would have bet he would have got thrown out-and I said so. He came a long way baby. He deserves my appology and a pat on the back. Job well done big guy!

That reminds me...

… I was on that bandwagon too. Wrong! Good for him.

I’m very happy to admit I was wrong about that.

Glad you guys got in my boat... Enjoy the ride! :-)

Mrs Cuz (aka BSC) was quick to remind me that I said he’d get tossed by the time we got to the UConn game… “Mmmm, good crow, mighty tasty!”

Ok,

so originally I wasn’t going to comment on all this because gloating is never nice, and it’s not really my thing usually, but since you brought me up, Eagle, I just need to say that I haven’t forgotten about our little side bet and I think it’s awfully big of you gentlemen to admit that you were wrong on the Cousins ejection issue. Good for you guys, but more importantly, good for DeMarcus.

And what did we learn in all this? Well, I guess we learned that sometimes “age and experience” as it was put at the time of the bet, and what ya’ll happen to have over me, doesn’t always know best. : )

Thank you Ma'am, may I have another?? :-)

And really, you said it best, “good for DeMarcus”, he’s the real winner in this whole deal!

girl, if I were you

I would have been mentioning that bet at every opportunity since the season’s final whistle. I’d have it as my signature line, so no one could miss it. I almost mentioned it FOR you since I agreed with you (ah-hem…just wanted to point out that I was on the winning side) but I figured I should butt out of getting smug on someone else’s behalf. I guess you’re a bigger person than I am, but gord lord how I love to be right : )
