As we patiently await the recruiting decisions of the major remaining players, here is today's news:

UK or NBA? Patterson must decide what's best | KentuckySports.com
You could say the same thing about Patrick Patterson. Right now, he need not worry about what's best for Kentucky basketball or John Calipari or incoming recruits. He need worry only about what's best for himself. -
Mass pro defections? Now watch Calipari clean up - CBSSports.com
Kentucky has five underclassmen heading into the NBA Draft, four of them freshmen. Crippling blow? Not for Kentucky recruiting maestro John Calipari. Gregg Doyel can't wait to watch how he does it.
I'm totally with you, Gregg. Pass the Milk Duds.

UK hoops notebook: Cats can reload | KentuckySports.com
"If everything broke right, it might not stack up with Wall and Cousins," Oettinger said. "But it could end up being the best recruiting crop in the country again."
Here's hoping.
More after the jump.

As expected, the colleges have been offering scholarships at a dizzying pace on Monday. Thornton’s current offer sheet consists of Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Michigan, Auburn, UTEP, along with the other four mentioned earlier — Georgia Tech, UGA, Alabama, and Clemson. Thornton is anticipating conversations with Memphis and Tennessee on Tuesday.
I believe I mentioned that recruits tend to decommit around this time due to coaching changes.

Fair and right aren’t always equal : The Kentucky Kernel
I think this editorial is largely correct, although I would much prefer Strickland man up and resign rather than force UK to let him go. -
Opposing Views: Year in Review: 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Season
We all know everything he did, so there’s no need to go into great detail here. Simply put he was mesmerizing and captivating on the court, while cordial and humble off of it. And for all the talk about Wall using Kentucky as a "pit stop," on the way to the NBA, many forget that Wall had over a 3.0 GPA in his first semester at Lexington.
I think this is exactly right.

I think college baseball has it right. Players can get drafted by teams straight out of high school by a major league team (and, in a very different system then basketball, they are off to minor league teams to develop). But if you go to college, you have to go for three years.
I like this rule, too. Why can't we get it for basketball?

College Basketball: UNC's Davis going pro | Salisbury, NC - Salisbury Post
Cue the chorus of early entry complaints. Oh, wait, that's right -- this is UNC, not Kentucky and Davis is a sophomore, after all. That just makes all the difference. -
Stansbury says he’s staying at MSU - Mississippi State - SunHerald.com
Sometime over the last two or three days, Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Stansbury became the odds-on favorite to take the same job with the ACC’s Clemson Tigers.
On Monday, however, Stansbury told MSU officials he will be staying in Starkville.
Good. Like him or not, Stansbury is one of the best coaches in the league. I'm glad the SEC is keeping him.

Barnhart: Cool to idea of home games in Louisville — Jerry Tipton on UK basketball
But on Monday UK Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart reinterated his opposition to more than the traditional one "home" game in Louisville in future seasons. He shook his head and voiced firm opposition to more than one "home" game in Louisville when asked after a UK Athletics Association Board of Directors meeting.
I hope John Calipari can change his mind on that. Maybe three is too many, but two certainly wouldn't be.

Oregon basketball: Kenny Payne to Kentucky? 'Not true' | OregonLive.com
Oregon assistant coach Kenny Payne is still waiting - like everybody else - to see who the Ducks hire to replace Ernie Kent, and he shot down a rumor that he will be hooking up with Kentucky coach John Calipari.
That's that. For now, anyway.
