The known details so far are here.
This is bad news for Strickland and bad news for Kentucky. This is not Strickland's first run-in with the law. As an NBA player, he had several altercations and reportedly, three previous DUI arrests.
It seems his rehabilitation, which had apparently been going well, is now officially derailed. More on this story as it becomes available.
[UPDATE] The Quad over at the New York Times had this piece on Strickland just a month ago. I found this quote instructive:
There were bumps along the way — a D.U.I. here, an altercation there. Strickland said that when he was contemplating life after basketball, he wondered who would give him a chance to get his foot in the door. Calipari said he took a chance on Strickland not only because of his basketball acumen, but also because of his imperfections.
This is likely to be an imperfection too far.
[UPDATE 11:55] UK has released a statement on the Strickland arrest. No surprises. More to follow in the coming hours and days, I'm sure.
