A Sea of Blue Joins Rocky Top Talk for Their Weekly Podcast

Ken and I were guests on Rocky Top Talk's podcast last night.  In case you don't know or have forgotten, Rocky Top Talk is SB Nation's outstanding Tennessee Volunteers blog.  I usually fail to remember to post this thing, but today, I remembered it thanks to an email from Joel.

Ken and I begin at about 8 minutes into the program, but if you have time, listen to the whole thing.  There are several guests from several excellent blogs on there.  Enjoy.

It's always possible.

But it’s hard for a freshman-dominated team to win it all.

So no, in answer to your question, I don’t believe it. The Florida game provided plenty of reasons to support that outlook, too.

Maybe I’ll change my mind if we beat a top ten team on a neutral floor.

I know you guys try to stay on the safe side of reality.....

I just can no longer find myself doubting this team….whatever it is that they have, I am sold….and I have come to another realization as well. John Calipari prepares his squads differently than other coaches. He does things that other coaches would not do. Maybe that is why we are having a little trouble pinning this team, and its actions on the court down to a science. Maybe he really does know something that none of us either know or would even guess.

Whatever.

I try to be as objective as possible for a fan.

Objectively, this team has issues that can be exploited, and anyone who can’t see that is either blind or needs to go to basketball school. Whether anyone is clever, lucky, or good enough to actually take advantage of those weaknesses remains to be seen.

So yes, I doubt them, because they have proven relatively little except that they can beat most teams they are supposed to beat. That’s important, but they are about to run up against much better, and I remain concerned that the Wildcats’ youth will show up under pressure. If they think they’ve faced pressure so far, well, we all know better than that.

Tru

I agree 100%. I don’t want to admit it but a team this young, having never been through this much pressure on a neutral court, has never won it all. GO cats.
