Coaches saying stupid things: 3/5/10 edition
In last week's edition... Coach Calipari said that winning an SEC title wasn't important (and then promptly lost to Tennessee.)
This week, we travel across the country for sage words from Ben Howland as he talks about taking blame for the debacle at UCLA.
But all of it starts right here with me. I'm in charge of making this program competitive year after year, but I did a poor job of evaluation of some of our recruits — from a talent, as well as a character standpoint. (Emphasis added)

Okay... just to illustrate for everyone here:
Bus
UCLA Players
Yeap, Howland pretty much threw his players under the bus with that one. Nothing quite like taking the blame by saying its your fault because you chose bad players!

Well, that’s exactly the wrong way to entice a nice recruiting class to matriculate.
Yikes.

May Not Be Nice Or Smart To Have Said It
But I think it’s accurate. Howland made recruiting mistakes.
Oh I don't disagree
I just think it wouldn’t reflect well on him with future recruits.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
Sounds like he's been listening to ...
