WVU starting point guard done for the season
Bad news for Mountaineers fans, good news for us I suppose.
Its a shame really, Truck Bryant has been solid if not spectacular for them all season long. He's their second leading three point shooter and does an effective job of getting them into their offense. He'll be replaced by the guy he replaced due to injury a couple of years ago, Joe Mazzula. Offensively, Mazzula doesn't bring much to the table (probably due to repeated shoulder injuries).
It'll be interesting to see what Huggy bear does with his defense. Shifting to a 1-3-1 could be effective for him. Washington is red hot right now and I think they could give WVU a run for their money.
Considering that we're still lamenting a Keith Bogans sprained ankle 7 years after the fact, I have some sympathy for Mountaineer fans... but ultimately, anything that weakens the field is good for us and I'll take it.

This is certainly bad news for them...
I think they can overcome it though. I happen to like Bob Huggins (always have) and this is the 2nd time he has had a “major” injury to one of his starters right before or during the post season. This is probably the 2nd best team Huggins has had during his coaching career. The best team he’s had was Kenyon Martin’s Bearcats and that team was the favorite to win it all. Now I am not comparing Bryant to Martin (its no contest) but it has to make Huggins feel snake bitten a little.
Slower Traffic Keep Right!
I like it too
Pretty nifty.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
I'm gonna be a dick
And switch my name to EightRings. Just kidding. It will be cerimonious when you make your first post with that name. I think you should immidiately make a fanpost simply announcing the switch. Assuming it’s an option in 2 weeks, of course.

HAHA
I fully plan on changing it should UK win. Several people know that I want to do that and it wouldn’t surprise me if someone tried to beat me too it….:-o
Slower Traffic Keep Right!
weeellll,
I probably shouldn’t say this, but if you really want to ensure that you are the owner of “Eight Rings” should we come away with that Eighth banner, you should reserve the name now. Today. ; )
weeellll, (again)
if it were me and I wanted to reserve the rights to a particular name I would probably go ahead and create a new account for myself. You know, if it were me.
Btw, I’m not advocating that everyone create new accounts here (that wouldn’t be cool at all and it would take forever for all of us to figure out who everybody was all over again) but your change really is for a good purpose, it means something and you have been talking about it for, I swear, two years now : ) and that’s why I’m giving my two cents.
you should put
“The Artist Formerly Known as SevenRings” as your signature so we’ll know who you are ; )

I'd set up a new account and then not use it until/if we win

It UT can overcome Tyler
I’m sure WVU can overcome Truck…course, they gotta believe it to. Can Huggy do it? We’ll find out…
I have kleptomania,
but when it gets bad,
I take something for it.
overcome.
yeah, when I first heard this story I immediately thought of Purdue and Robbie Hummel. I mean, how many people gave them much of a chance to reach the Sweet Sixteen without Hummel? I know I didn’t. But, like the UT example you gave, and the Hummel example, sometimes teams dig deep, rise to the occasion and are able to overcome the loss of a star player.
Btw, I think Huggins is a heck of a coach. He is always pretty dead-pan and not real engaging in interviews and maybe isn’t the most personable, but I think the man can coach.
He
said today that depth will be the biggest issue with this. His other point guard will be fine replacing him but the depth is of concern.
Its gonna take a lot of climbing to get them refocused after this
but it can be done……but everyone here knows what it is like to try and get a team all back on the right page after an injury devastates you…..anyone remember ’97?
Or Bogans?? What was that 2003??
Huggins is a good motivator…..will be interesting to see if he can pull this one off.
I AM THE CAT......The Cat In The Hat!!!
That's terrible...
I feel bad for the young man, more than anything. It has to be anguishing for him to get this far, then have this happen.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." A. Bartlett Giamatti
I feel horrible for them.
I actually don’t mind Huggins or West Virginia, they’re my favorite Big East team (not that that’s saying a lot…) And before the brackets came out and I knew they were in the same region as my Cats, they were a team I could see picking for a Final Four run. I feel for Huggins because he already had to deal with a devastating late injury to a team that had a great shot to go far, with Kenyon Martin way back in 2000-ish (good Lord, was that a decade ago??). And like he points out, we’ve been there ourselves with Bogans in 2003. It sucks. Even though it may end up giving the Cats an easier road should both teams get to the Elite Eight (or it may not—as others have pointed out, sometimes injuries can really rally a team), obviously you’d rather get the win with both teams fully healthy.

Bogans Played In 2003
He didn’t miss the next game.
Both K-Mart and now Truck are out for the season.

I realize that
I was more alluding to the fact that the injury altered our tournament fortunes in the minds of many Kentucky fans.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
"Considering that we're still lamenting a Keith Bogans sprained ankle 7 years after the fact"
Shoot, I’m still lamenting Derek Anderson’s torn ACL 13 years after the fact!
