Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Kentucky Wildcats, Mar 20, 2010 8:25 PM EDT
For the first time in 14 years, the Kentucky Wildcats will be taking on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the second-round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of this game moves on to the Sweet Sixteen in Syracuse, NY.

This will be a very tough game for Kentucky, in all probability. Wake Forest is a talented, long, and athletic team, much like the Wildcats. The Demon Deacons have played a significantly tougher schedule than Kentucky, and are as battle-tested as can be, earning a tough, overtime victory against the Texas Longhorns on Thursday.
The Wildcats, meanwhile, feasted on the East Tennessee St. Buccaneers, blowing them out 100-71, and had to exert themselves only a little.

What UK needs to do to win:
- Defensive rebound like crazy. The best way for Wake Forest to make this a close game is to dominate the offensive glass.
- Continue to shoot the ball well from the perimeter, keeping in mind that Wake Forest defends the three very well.
- Get the ball inside to DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson, and Daniel Orton. If UK can get Wake Forest's big guys in foul trouble, this game will be much easier.
- Make free throws. Wake Forest gives up a lot of trips to the line.
What UK can do to lose:
- Take this opponent lightly. This Wake Forest team is capable.
- Allow offensive rebounds. Wake Forest needs offensive rebounds to be efficient offensively.
- Forget to guard the three. Even though Wake is not a good 3-point shooting team, the last thing you want is to give them open looks so they can get hot.
- Allow Ishmael Smith to get into the lane. If he does that, there will be a lot of dunks by Wake Forest.
Wake Forest is not going to be afraid of Kentucky -- they have played a very tough ACC schedule, and have seen many good teams. This will be nothing new. With that said, UK must stay focused and keep attacking like they did on Thursday, and take care of the defensive glass. If they do that, good things will happen.

First, KU will not make it to the final four. They have a lack of character that is more a matter of personality than ability on the court. A sort of sneering superiority that exists in a few of their players which works well for the class bully, but not so well when facing the less predictable milieu of serious competition of the do-or-die NCAA tournament. This self-deluding contempt for opponents will leave them open for a blind-side from a team with a big right hook. I say, look for Kansas to falter in the Sweet 16 if not earlier.

will set the tone for how we play the rest of the tournament. Play bad – lose. Play at competition level – barely pull them out. Play at potential – set new winning margin for games on way to Championship.
I really feel if we come out and put it to Wake and win big then we will win BIG all the way.

UK is almost impossible to beat….we know what we are going to get from Wall, PPat, Cuz and Bledsoe collectively. If they get more production out of the other players look out.

Watching Illinois beat Wisconsin twice
Has left me without the slightest worry about wisconsin. They Can only
slow the game down if they have the ball and that’s only half the time. Ky has progressed so much in the last 3 weeks! Another week of practice we are gonna be that much better! If there wasn’t a week between rounds te other teams would have a much better chance. This young guys getting a couple of tournament games and the sec championship umdertheir belt has helped greatly!

How good is duke?
I’ve watched them play once vs north Carolina and highlights on espn. Everyone says they are over rated big time but I don’t know where they get that. When they are hitting their shots they are very impressive because they an get open alot.

Syracuse is 8 hours away
Decent tickets are ~350 dollars, and I’m thinking about pressing the buy button on stub hub
But, I spent $220 on some wedges today.....
